Why does Ultimatum feel unrewarding?

"

id be happy if it gave me just 1 chaos. instead i get vendor trash. i mean, if the damned thing started with 1 chaos, id be like, maybe i should attempt this.

i had close to 100 chaos before hitting maps. most of that from these ultimatums. now, they're basically non existant.

im gonna head off to work, cause id rather work on my engines. it's prolly a good thing that this game is unrewarding cause i really should be working. imout.

Just sounds like you're unlucky. In red maps, 4-5 chaos ultimatum rewards are fairly consistent. You get them ever second ultimatum or so. Sometimes you get Chaos Orbs twice in an ultimatum.

But as said, on average you get maybe ~10 chaos per ultimatum if we factor in lucky drops. Considering ultimatums on average take ~2 minutes and a fast mapper does a map in around 5 minutes (Because of Ultimatums) we can guesstimate that the leaguemechanic should reward you ~120 chaos/hour if you're efficient.
This is from the league mechanic alone.

Now, is this good? It depends.
As I mentioned earlier, you could just run blighted maps for ~6 ex/hour or Heist/Simulacrums for 10 ex/hour instead which is way more profitable.

That being said, I don't think ultimatums are supposed to be compared to those things. Ultimatums are small time sinks in your map that consistently give you a couple of chaos.
They're basically the main money maker when you enter maps and you stop doing Chaos recipe. And you should stop doing them and focus on more profitable mechanics if you want to make money, unless you enjoy running them of course.

How does one measure reward?

Ultimatum farming in Quarry is better than Ultimatum farming in t16 maps per hour, what else is there to say?

Quarry farming looks like it has been stealth nerfed.
Also, it never was more profitable than red maps. It was more profitable than white and yellow.

Red maps are worth 10-15 chaos and with a well developed atlas red map farming will generate alot more currency.
That's not becuase of the ultimatums though, but because of selling red maps.
ulti-s drop a ton of loot, what are you talking about?
are you a one round challenger
They feel unrewarding because 99,9999999 % of the tenthousand items they spew out at the end are wortless.

I really hope they get the well rolled loot system going. Wouldnt mind if it only drops 20 items and one of them is well rolled.
Because its not lmao, my most common last wave reward is orbs of binding.

Its a steady source of mixed currency with a very occasional valuable unique etc that doesn't cost you anything, thats all.

And thats where its value lies, its free and in every map so it stacks up. Quantity has a quality all of own ^^
They are rewarding as hell. The problem is the reward put on pedestal is not always good. Ultimatum is the densest part of the map. Its not rewarding because it gives you rewards from mechanic alone, its rewarding because in addition to that you get all the stuff from mobs you kill, exp included. You have more rare and magic mobs in that one spot then on the rest of the moderately juiced map (like alch + mission).

Ultimatum are not rewarding if you know what you are doing and "very rewarding" if you have no idea how to juice your maps.

Spending 2 min and having a chance for 5c or running map in 3 min and making 40-50 c profit/map (and getting tons of maps you can sell too).

Anyway im back in ssf and ultimatum is still unrewarding.
While chaos orbs are always nice you can say its a cool reward. Chaos are a reward that let me interact with other content but because ultimatum is a source of this currency it doesnt make it good (just like chaos recipe is trash experience).

So why ultimatum is bad? Because it lack special rewards. I haven't got anything interesting besides scarabs and 2 random, trash tier maps with delirium.
To consider rewards good i want something that let me interact with other content: brechstones, delirium orbs i can use myself, blighted maps or just regular maps from that let me enjoy more "favourite" maps. In other words i want maps juice that i don't have to waste time on trading

ultimatum rewards are very good

Lol !!! Maybe you have been well rewarded but it is not the case for all people, I rarely have 3-4 chaos reward, most of the time it is crap rewards like perandus coins, trash items etc. Ultimatum is a waste of time, I skip, Ritual was far better.

ultimatum rewards are very good, any scouring orbs, regret orbs ,etc are worth a lot. You are kinda showing you don't understand the game much in terms of making money, watch video on youtube about you are more rich than you think. Those items are worth a lot of currency and builds up over time.

thinking about making some youtube video showing 5-10 ultimatum and showing the total cost of profit... it is very rewarding, and sometimes I have died on very good stuff. Ultimatum has brought a lot of excitement in the game for me, especially on high tier maps, one mistake can be death and a lot of stuff to dodge once you start getting to wave 6+

Congratulations, your check is in the mail. Spending 20min to flaunt your 4 regal orbs and 2 chaos sounds like a treat, that's nearly 20c an hour you are banking there. Imagine the flow of richness when you've min maxed your build for no more than 50ex..why you could double those numbers and really enjoy the random rewards by then.
