" This is the answer. But the game needs some first-class sniper apps to support the bots, so serious players can play PoE: The Trade Sim to its full potential. With app + bots to instantly find, buy and re-list the under-priced items, players (the human ones) can focus on the best use of their time - recruiting new players who are clueless and will happily sell low and buy high to support the experienced players. Another possibility is scamming, although I confess I haven't seen an analysis that shows whether scamming is actually more profitable than flipping once you factor in the overhead required. I'm just assuming it must be given how many people there are doing it. And for anyone who thinks they detect a hint of cynicism/sarcasm in this post, I assure you there is absolutely none intended. :-) |

Don't think endorsing scamming as a playstyle will make you many friends around here.

" I think people scam simply becuase they enjoy the rush of scamming, because flipping is by far the easier and better method of income. I mean there are programs out there that auto whisper people on your item whoops. You dont even have to do anything to snipe items and make money. You just join and snag whatever item some noob underpriced becuase your program auto-whispered them. And of course, programs that allow you to see the items faster. So, I personally believe all the scammers simply enjoy the act of scamming, considering how easy and less risky flipping is. The rush of screwing someone over is what drives these people. Scamming takes time and effort, meanwhile auto-whisper programs and whoops do not. You set and forget those and just go on with your PoE life. " A lot of the stuff I've seen so far is like "quick easy way to make money!" then after a five minute waste of my time they explain how you have to invest an exalt worth of stuff to make it work, and it's locked behind content that is difficult for me to accomplish. Then the easier stuff is basically just "do game content" and they show some crazy lucky RNG occur. But yeah, I don't really know. I can't do Ultimatums, they just kill me. I have 6500 HP and 3800 ES and I still constantly get one shot within a split second. It feels like all the guides that teach you how to make good currency involve content that you need high quality items to accomplish, and those high quality items cost so much currency that I'll never really reach that point. I think a lot of my problems actually originate from listening to streamers to be honest. The build I'm using right now was one of the more popular streamer "league start" YouTube videos out there, and it turned out to be a completely useless build until you sink about 30 exalts into it. I'm not a pro, but that absolutely excludes it from being a "league starter" I'm about 10 exalts deep at the moment and still struggle with red maps... If I don't have Cinderswallow up I die, I mean the build itself has no real defensive layers, it basically just relies on you having a ton of gear. But there I was, just blindly listening to a streamer that had a couple hundred thousand views on their video. I don't even understand how these streamers get the gear at league start to make their convoluted builds even work. I mean the gear is at it's most expensive at that point, but they all somehow get dozens of exalts worth of gear in the first 48 hours. It makes no sense to me. I have 1500 hours played and It feels like I'm playing a completely different game than them. No amount of guides I've read or watched have made me more than several exalts in a league start... So where the hell are they all printing their exalts from? I mean I was watching a PathofMathh video where he goes on about high end crafting and you need exalts on exalts on exalts to even get started-- and I'm pretty sure that style of crafting changed this league so the entire video is probably out of date... |

" Not a specific advice here but think about what others players need, and how to obtain it :) Edit: And when. Hf :) Last edited by Heli0nix#0378 on Apr 30, 2021, 5:48:27 PM

" Yeah, half my problem is I blindly trusted a "league start" build from a popular YouTuber. I don't really know what to say. It had a couple hundred thousand views. The guy really hyped it up, and it turned out to be pretty terrible. I'm no professional player but I've played enough to know what a bad build is. So it's like OK, I guess what, I just play ED/Contagion again... From my perspective, there's basically just a handful of builds that can actually play Path of Exile from league start for an average player. Unless you seriously know every little aspect of Path of Exile, starting as any other build than ED/Cont or Toxic Rain style builds is a huge gamble and likely a big waste of time. This is probably the first build that I really struggled to get into red maps with. Yet it was probably the most viewed "league start" video prior to Ultimatum. It looks like it'll be a great build once I invest more into it, but yeah, I'm just hitting a brick wall. I can't progress through my Atlas worth a damn anymore so the only choice I have is to do some mind numbing farm mechanic until what, I get lucky with RNG and make another 20 exalts? That's a super uncompelling game loop. Then my other option is....... to start over with a new build this far into a league....... I dunno, I feel the RNG is just too damned crazy this league. There will be people that make several Exalts before they even hit red maps, meanwhile I've probably only made 10 so far this entire league. Only had one actually drop. I think it's nuts that in order to complete your Atlas you need A.) Amazing RNG luck and B.) A top tier build which requires C.) Dozens of Exalts worth of gear. It feels like the majority of builds and play styles are simply not able to even complete something basic like Atlas Bonuses let alone Awakener bonuses without massive currency investments. I gave up on progression today when I died four times in a row on a Tier 14, after finishing four Tier14s and recieving no new Tier14s and being set back to Tier12s again. Can't even sustain, even when I'm dying and losing all my XP and not progressing. I chisel every single map... But RNG just isn't on my side this league so the gameplay is frustrating as all hell. Other players doing absolutely nothing different will have wildly different results. That's POE... |

" Yeah, I was trying to do that and started trying to craft up some Cluster Jewels as I've heard there's good money to be made there. Spent 30 chaos on the base jewel, used a ton of Alts / Scours and got no good rolls. Basically spent 60 chaos to make nothing. That's been my experience every time I follow a "crafting guide" on YouTube. I mean I guess I can sell the Cluster Jewel back anyways... So then it's a loss of 30 chaos and probably a half hour of my time that could have been spent facerolling Tier 1 maps and I would have at least made *something*. I dunno. Maybe I just don't like the game anymore. Seems like I'm constantly struggling and getting absolutely no where. It's to the point that I what, can't even complete my Atlas now without doing some cliche ED/Contagion build at league start... |
