How are people making money? Everything is so expensive on trade. Help?

I'm not a new player, but I've never been an excellent player either. The prices of good items seems to be significantly higher than usual this league, Chaos seem to be worth significantly less, and I'd often make most of my currency by selling items in the range of 5 - 20 chaos orbs. I'm still making those sales fairly regularly, selling off life/resist rares etc etc-- but the price of Exalts makes it all feel rather pointless.

I think my gear is around 3 - 4 exalts worth, I have a single Exalt in my stash, and probably 300 chaos orbs. I feel like I'm doing very bad this league, and my build requires fairly expensive gear. ( I'm struggling to handle high yellow tier maps when I'd typically be cruising through T16 at this point. )

So how are people making all their money? I'm seeing items going for 40 exalts that wouldn't have cost more than 5 in the past. Seems like inflation has hit POE hard lol.

I'm struggling, any advice is appreciate.

GGG destroyed Harvest and Beast splitting so we're back to wearing garbage items again.

If you want to make alot money this league, become a hideout warrior.
Flipping and Crafting are definitely the two best methods for making currency now. Crafting is harder but flipping is definitely easy. You can use poeprofit.com for some easy beginner flips.
Advanced flipping where you're flipping perfect items and accumilating bulk stacks of things like Essences, Delirium Orbs, Fossils et.c. requires alittle more knowledge though.

If you actually want to play the game and make currency. First finish your atlas. After that the options are to:
1. Farm Blighted Maps with massive quantity and oils on them. Haven't tried it, but seems to be profitable.
2. Run Heist. Extremely profitable to just run contracts followed by blueprints this league. Unusual gem blueprints are extremely lucrative and will net you half a dozen exalted orbs per hour or more.
3. Farm Lira Arthain.
Run this zone with only T1 Chayula or Uul-Netol watchstones. A 200% Chayula and 200% Uul Netol split seems very strong. Make sure you have Secret of the stone atlas passive activated to make it 250% on both.
Run Race Course or Shipyard maps with Polished Breach Scarabs and Breach Zana mod. This will be your primary currency maker in this strategy.
For secondary money making you're running Blight.
When you're running Blight, use rusted blight scarabs to farm blighted maps worth ~70 chaos each.

You can also opt to specialize in running Heist in this region. If you do so, run Heist on the map device. You could also experiment with running 10% more blueprint watchstones to try and farm fully revealed blueprints. A fully revealed blueprints goes for ~1.5 exalted orbs and you get ~1 every 10 maps without any watchstones.

You don't need to trade. If you do, you don't need to trade for the expensive stuff. Get "good enough". You can do that for a few chaos.

ultimatums are shitting out chaos orbs and theres no good way to spend them this league

look at the bright side at least youre not one of those kids spamming the chaos recipe to make your money

I feel ya, my build requires Pledge of Hands & Pandemonius and they are both super expensive this league start. Look at poe ninja for expensive items that are easy to farm, then search trade site to confirm. Then target farm those items in low level content. Some ideas:

-Alterations are around 2.5-3 per chaos and easy to farm
-Fusings are worth a good amount right now so I heard
-Farm & sell Breachstones. Or farm & sell me a Pandemonius ;)
-People need their legion 4-way for map device, so sell splinters/emblems
-Sell maps if you can sustain
-Farm lab with a couple good boot/helm bases and sell the enchants

Or reroll to a cheaper char with a higher plateau. Good luck, most things will be cheaper as time goes on.

I mean everything is profitable atm, breaches are probably the less investment intensive mechanic to farm. It took me 1-2h yesterday getting enough currency for a gg enchanted helmet.

He struggles in yellow maps. He has no currency to buy 90% watchstones either.

He could try quarry ultimatum farming for a couple of hours or the same in white maps. Like grotto for the fusing and primordial cards.

After buying items worth 5-10 chaos your character progression comes to a screeching halt, since the current economy and drop rate will not have you progress too quickly to items worth 1-2 exalt.

I am in somewhat the same situation. It just feels as if the progression has stopped. No quick level ups to progress the skill tree, no single item upgrades without causing a chain of changes

It often provides more fun to just level another character close to 90 than engaging with the game to progress past 90 at a snail's pace, due to the cost of items. Sure, some farming methods exists, but they hardly feel like engaging with the game naturally. Instead those farms demand you play a very specific setup rather obsessively (e.g. Quarry farm, single map with specific modifier farm), which is a bit too toxic form of video gaming for my taste.

There is a lot of streamers with guides how to make cash....pathofmathh, gimro, etc

I have not played trade since 2.x but always flipped currency. I'm sure that still works. Set up like 50-100 trades in poe.trade w/ Thin Margins on both ends of buying and selling. Usually made 200-300ex by lvl 90 and could build whatever...sounds like a lot but shavs was 80ex at one time.. I used to trade at work. Game wouldnt run like playable but trading would lol.


great thing abt currency flipping is no bullshit. No one haggles you or talks to you about item or gives u their life story.... so even if you have antisocial traits like me you can manage it.
