Playing PoE raises your I.Q

Emotional IQ is probably most important. I was reading a book once and dude said all these gazillionares have at least 150 friends.
I mean like think about. Just an example... You got a great idea how do you take it to IPO without friends on Wall street, in investment banks, in rating agencies like Dun and Bradstreet? Or how do you raise capital to begin with without believers in you. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Apr 3, 2021, 4:11:05 PM

Persuasion and perseverance are the only skills that matter in life period so long as you're smart enough to wipe your own butt and put on clothes.
PoE has lowered my IQ by 50 points and it hasn't affected my life at all. |

" Worker is not the opposite of genius, this is a false dichotomy. A lot of the great inventors were quite blue-collar with their hands. Probably a bit of a feedback loop there when it comes to the tinkerers of the 19th and 20th centuries. There is also something to be said about the narrowly focused genius of a lifelong tradesman. Take the geriatric that's been making shoes by hand for 5 decades. If the zombie apocalypse happened tomorrow and all the factories stopped making shoes, that guy would be pretty popular indeed until he could redisseminate his years of knowledge to enough people who then had the overlapping skillsets of being able to reboot mass production. Shoes would be very important in the zombie apocalypse. |

Something about 7 types (or even more) of measurable intelligence and competencies. Kinaesthetic, emotional-empathetic, academic, somatosensory, etc.
Even if you don't believe in IQ tests and quantifying intelligence(s) on an absolute scale, it's useful to be aware that different people have different gifts and challenges. One person's academic whiz kid is another's natural athlete is another's Francis Ford Coppola is another's RaizQT. You can still play PoE and have fun and enjoy and even be productive (whatever that means) even if you suck at following builds or have bad reaction speed. All that's required is good hardware, good multitasking skills and prioritizing, persistence and determination. Eventually you WILL find a build and follow it and mash your flasks in time to survive a9 sirus all you have to do is keep trying. If you're in an awful hurry in PoE that's where you need to be exceptional in multiple areas to get your goals. --Better than average fine motor skills and reaction speed --High level of multitasking and prioritizing to avoid wasting time and currency on unproductive pursuits --Good social and communication skills to be part of a successful comp guild --Attention to detail to wade through build guides and cut through all the crap and personal anecdotal stuff to the basic tools you need --Critical thinking under pressure with limited information: Maven, uber elder, running lab even. Do I pop the strongbox unID in the small room with a character that has no block? Do I trust my short-term memory with that simon says pattern or focus on the death beam? No one person gonna have all these lined up perfectly; to what extent they can be "trained" by video games is debatable, certainly the reward factor is there but the conditions are scaled differently from what you might expect. If you don't already have a decent amount of basic competence in a lot of those areas, PoE isn't going to change your life. It may just waste your time and frustrate you when you could be doing something that's proven to help boost your skills, designed to effect improvement, and cost less carpal tunnels. Misconceptions about IQ are as inevitable as below average intelligence scores once you start measuring them.
In the above context, you can't even prove it to your audience. Last edited by vmt80#6169 on Apr 3, 2021, 8:26:02 PM

I don't think we're even close to the correct understanding of what "intelligence" is. Too stuck on ourselves. Like we're the only thing that matters. Anything that's not us, can't be intelligent. If it starts to look like it might be, we change the definition to suit our self-importance.
