Playing PoE raises your I.Q

There are many games out there, but this game... Well, you need a fucking brain to actually excel. Path of Exile uses many algorithms, besides defense the one algorithm that stumps new players is their dps...

"Why is my dps so low..."

I guarantee that new players, never heard "multiplicative numbers" untill they played this game. You see unlike many other games were you can compare items and the game engines lets you know, "hey stupid this is better..." -

"That yellow item is better....what?!"

Poe is less forgiving... You either understand the sorcery behind the madness or you simply HAVE to use third party software or websites to figure out exactly what is going on. Or take advantage of our wonderful players who are mathematicians...

"I'll never need math..."

Bet you said that to a friend or family member. Oh the Irony... Touche of course. As teachers and parents till this day find video games under the social hierarchy of accomplishments.

"Video games turn your brain mushy..."

Direct, indirect, resistances... It's pretty involved. Let's not forget the crafting. I giggle as I know right now as I type this someone is spending 1000 exalts only to find out, their weapon sucks later on.

"Gotta love PoE..."

Whether new or a verteran, I have to honestly say this game made me appreciate math a little bit more and as April 5th approaches I hope my calculus class doesnt destroy me... Can't be worse than trying to figure out how to get max resistances without gimping my dps?

Stay safe and healthy

The game is stimulating on some of its aspects, a neuroscientist or two should study that.

This guy is a french neuroscientist who has a methodology that could be used to study PoE's impact on your psyche, [Removed by Support]

I'm educated enough on neurobiology and psychology for that (:

There's no proof whatsoever that games improve your IQ or cognitive performance - even games specifically developed for that do not increase your performance per se; they only improve your ability to solve specific tasks such as memorizing an array of numbers but once you have to start memorizing an array of words, all of your training does not show up.
Hundreds of millions on research, nothing to show.

We cannot even quantify what IQ or intelligence is.

PoE is good at abusing your reward circuits though which will drastically decrease your motivations for everything else productive.
I could probably write a good 5,000 word essay on that.

I am an actual scientist who plays PoE.
I have nothing to add though.

I have never felt further from what I know and love
Good. I could use the help.

It's me. Your brother. Biology degree, work in the biomed field.
Math can be fun... and downright gory.
What is the value of my own life when it is taken from others so easily?
I seriously doubt that. It's about like watching TV and i feel dumber after both. Now a game of chess with my dad or rebuilding an engine on one of my buggies might give me a boost but whatever IQ dont mean much. Like edison said 99% perspiration 1% inspiration... I'll take a worker over a genius.

With that vision, we would all still be living in the stone age.

We probably be more advanced if the workers didnt kil off neanderthals... Scientists think 200 IQ was the norm. But workers (homo sapiens) overwhelmed them
