Standard vs trade league

I tried playing Standard in December. Was expecting a dead League, but was pleasantly surprised because it was quite lively. The prices seemed higher compared to the temporary leagues, but I easily got my starting gear and it didn't take more than three whispers per item. Funnily enough people also seemed more polite. In a temporary league you can send 10 whispers and get totally ignored (understandable). In standard people often replied, apologized, said they were busy with some other activity at the moment and asked if I could wait. It seemed very nice.

Unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea. Because I had a lot of currency from temporary leagues I didn't feel the sense of progression that you have when playing a temporary league and start a fresh journey a go from zero to hero.

I'm planning to try SSF Standard though - slowly grinding equipment and currency, and crafting your things yourself because of the lack of trade seems a very entertaining experience to me.

I agree. I play both... So I'm not on eiher side of the fence.

I must say the standard community does seem nicer and I would say trade is actually easier. Sure there is less gear available, but people actually respond.

I think it's also a misconception that you can't make money in standard unless you've been playing for years. When first levelling and starting a character, I would agree that league is far superior... But if you have done one league or have leveled and on to end game then making money in standard is exactly the same as making money in league.
ye I jumped ship on League play since the Harvest Nerf announcement. Not going to play Next league either, so Standard play will more or less be a nice break before we see what PoE 2 brings.
