Standard vs trade league

I love how league elitists like you always come in to try spit on Standard... like it's going to sway our opinion or something. We play standard because we love to continue to build out our characters over a longer period of time and not have to start from scratch. It's pretty simple mate.

You start by name calling others for their opinions and then when they respond to your insults, you start acting as if you're the victim.

I said in standard you can sell boss fights just like you can sell challenges that's not making something up.

That's intellectually dishonest as you know it's not the point of the discussion. You're fully aware that the discussion is about the market prevalence of the said service, not if it's possible.

You will not be buying or selling any kind of bossing service in Standard with ease because there simply isn't a market for it due to bossing items being flooded in from leagues.

Exactly my point KissmeQuick... there is less demand for it. The market is based on supply/demand.

Yes, and there is barely any demand because of excess supply and 5x lower population.
Nobody is arguing about the existence of a natural law.

S.R.S ?
Standard is fine really. Take it from someone who plays almost exclusively standard for most of the time.

I wouldnt be suprised if the actual numbers of standard players are going towards 20%-25% after Harvest got into core game.
The statistics saying standard population is 15% of total player base is several years old. And then Standard still probably has fifteen times more players than SSF.
How can you possibly judge the number of SSF players?
Standard is very happening. Everytime I go there to test out stuff I get bombarded with buy requests because some tabs are public. OFC I have to set DND. I dont play standard but i probably should with lack of time. I just like restarting fresh even if i dont get very far. Its not really about those challenges or levels for me. I just like zero to hero. The struggle.

There is no struggle in standard. I have mirror gears and can sell legacy stuff for even more mirrors. Just a face roll like arm wrestling your wife or sister

And that matters why? There could be 1 or 100,000 players in SSF plays exact same unlike trade leages.

What I don’t understand is why there is a “fever” for currency making. The gap between casual players and experts is too big and that leaves most of the playerbase barely getting to Sirus 8 while there is a minority with over 20 mirrors done in 3 months, what they probably never even move to the standard currency tab (what I could do with some of those mirrors lol).

It's no different from other hobbies and sports. Some people enjoy playing casually, some enjoy trying to be the best they can be, and a small subset of those want to be the best in the world.

Those demographics work well for the business model. You create game content that only the best can really do, and some of those folks are willing to spend time creating web content that gives average players a sense that they might actually be able to do it too. And that pulls in new players.

Of course, a big piece of the game difficulty is not about super-human reflexes, it's about having super-human gear. Which anyone can theoretically obtain with enough work. Which helps drive the currency fever. But, yes, at some point it becomes making more currency just because you can, and you have nothing else going on in your life, so why not.

No criticism intended here. We all do our own thing.

The extreme range of content difficulty, coupled with quarterly "updates" that require constant re-tooling of your game knowledge (and thus of the web content) keeps a whole ecosystem and economy going. Without it, PoE would probably have died a long time ago.

So play challenge when the new league looks exciting or you want to try a build from league start. And play standard when you want to keep working on an existing character, or maybe want to completely re-tool one without having to run the acts.

I tried playing Standard in December. Was expecting a dead League, but was pleasantly surprised because it was quite lively. The prices seemed higher compared to the temporary leagues, but I easily got my starting gear and it didn't take more than three whispers per item. Funnily enough people also seemed more polite. In a temporary league you can send 10 whispers and get totally ignored (understandable). In standard people often replied, apologized, said they were busy with some other activity at the moment and asked if I could wait. It seemed very nice.

Unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea. Because I had a lot of currency from temporary leagues I didn't feel the sense of progression that you have when playing a temporary league and start a fresh journey a go from zero to hero.

I'm planning to try SSF Standard though - slowly grinding equipment and currency, and crafting your things yourself because of the lack of trade seems a very entertaining experience to me.
