Massive RIP to PoE.

I'm looking into this D2 remake with 27 steps back. Looks like a cash grab for nostalgic fans, myself included. But it will not change a thing in PoE.

I'll look how it goes. If after some time it's stable, no crashes, fun PvP and all else I had 20 years ago I might consider.

But so far I don't think it's D2 remake that will topple PoE. It's more likely GGGCent ruin their own game than any other good ARPG arrive in the market.

So far GGGCent is doing a great job to ruin its game. Texture streaming and the shit the game is now with crashes and lags are a huge step forward.

What bothers me a bit is that it will use the old engine in the background. I've played D2 for a long time and even on super fast computers (compared to hardware available at the game's original release date) some stuff would make the game stutter. I especially remember in Act V there was this whipper demon boss and when you killed him there'd be all sorts of meteors and stuff raining down, which obviously was too much for the engine to handle.

I also remember reading in the FAQ of some mod, possibly MedianXL, that the engine had problems keeping up with some stuff and that it is not hardware related.

Anyway, if it turns out a decent remaster, I might consider giving Blizzard some money again.
Whatever you will be playing (D2RM, PoE, Wolcen, Last Epoch, …): Have a lot of fun.

Well, to the argument that some mtx cost more than the D2 reskin, it's not only that the mtx is optional. GGG invests a lot in PoE - various posts point out that there's too much stuff. It's like their capability to produce (their defining strength imo) almost starts to work against them. Like they are overly anxious to put more and more in the game to please the playerbase.

So we're asking them to tone it down and focus on QoL/stability often.

Posters noted that D2 will be modded - well that takes time to flourish first. And it's still a big question mark, while I'm confident GGG will keep producing.

I've decided to not go for it yet and will just see what the mod situation will end up like.

And even though I want to point out that this means it's basically up to the D2 community to make it work, I feel I have no grounds because without the PoE community and all their tools this game would not be playable (for me).

Best wishes to those who go for it - hope Blizzard does not continue it's disappointment streak.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

RIP PoE?

Why would I ever support a company that wasn´t able to produce anything worthwhile in 20 years so they have to recycle one of their masterpieces from a time where they were actually good?

Sorry but as good as D2 was - just some graphical finetuning does not do it for me when we get every 3 Months TONS of new content, a permanently changing and evolving meta, new gems and what not in PoE while Blizzard slept harder than Smaug for 20 years xD

I will not even be playing D4. PoE won me over with dedication and hard work. Nothing that Blizzard has shown in the last years caught my attention longer than 2 minutes.

I mean, people obviously have different preferences. some hate blizzard, some dont like diablo or just enjoy poe too much to drop it. it's all fine, everyone has their own taste.

what boggles my mind is when people honestly and sincerely believe nobody is gonna play d2r because they personally dont like it. I mean, you dont have to be a nostradamus kind of see in the future genius to see that this is gonna be a license for printing money. the game will sell millionfold, whether you like diablo or blizzard or not.

too bad we cant really bet on it ;)

Cash grab? And $35 selling models in this game or tabs stacking all the bullshit currrency isnt? This is the ultimate cash grab it's hilarious I had to spend hundreds to feel comfortable playing it.

All those artists used to remake d2 dont work for free and $40 or whatever seeems cheap. I go to movie with my family and spend over $40 for two hours entertainment. $40 is about price of a quad tab and map tab in this cash grab. $40 for a whole complete game seems cheap AF. Course I never played D2 so it's all new too.

I have spend about 80$ in total on PoE. Some on tabs, other on skins.
And I really don't have to get anything more. I can live without essence tab and fossile tab.
Concidering the amount of time i have spent in PoE(almost 2k hours). That price is nothing.
PoE is one of the best games out there, when it comes to adding content. So I would gladly support some more.

Blizzard on the other hand. They are greedy on a different level.

1. They add microtransaction to WoW. Despite people are already paying a sub fee and the price of any expansion. And those expansions cost the same price as a new game.

2. Diablo 3 costed like 60$ on realease but also gets a pay 2 win AH. So they can earn more money.
Once that fail, they pretty much stop supporting the game after reaper of souls.

3. Heroes of the Storm is easily the most expensive moba when it comes to unlocking heroes.

4. Overwatch and Hearthstone helped popularise loot boxes.

5. Hearthstone began introducing more and more crazy card by each expansion. Cards you basically must have. Not to mention they tried harder to reach casuals by going for cheap mechanics and loads of RNG. Which pretty much killed the game.

6. They introduce Diablo Immortal on mobiles. And try to convince people its their next great Diablo installment.
But in reallity its a game made for movile cuz they wanna reach the huge casual crowd. Especially high paying Asians.

7. Warcraft 3 reforged promised loads of stuff and was quite expensive. But what people got was a buggy mess.
Not to mention they had the rights to own any mod made in reforged.

8. Starcraft 2 is riddled with microtransactions, so much that feels like a big mess.

Do I need to go on? Blizzard Activision is as greedy as EA. So dunno how you can defend it.

You're missing out big time if you don't get the other tabs. It's a huge qol, especially every league. A loyal PoE supporter is on average in the $1000s.

Regarding ActiBlizz, they need to fire their CEO Bobby Kotik immediately. This guy is a massive fail for WAY TOO MANY YEARS and is the single reason (well their board of execs are also responsible) the company has been in the gutter since 2008. A new CEO will renew the company's vision and bring inspiration and success to better games. Thankfully, D2R is under the dev of VV and they have an awesome track record.

Nah.. ive already played d2 to death. New paint won't make me want to play it again. So no massive RIP to poe... POE remains the massive RIP to D3 and that will never change. Also its blizz... LMAO they cant get shit right these days.
