Passive Tree - Kind of Boring

Here's the problem with spoon feeding regarding stuff that's already on the forums. Typing out the answer takes time away from you (same with explaining it). If new players have time to type out their questions, they have time to look it up on the forums.

A better approach would be to allow linkable URLs in the chat box. This way you don't have to type out the answer yourself. You can just link the page the answer is on. If they still won't read it, that's their problem.

Bottomline: not reading the forums is their problem.

Next thing you know they'll be asking for builds. If it comes to that, we can just tell them to go play D3.
You do realize the people you are calling lazy and stupid won't make their own build. They will just copy a build that matches what they want, if they even bother rerolling a new character when they realize they are supposed to play, find out how things work, THEN plan something out that may or may not work.

The casuals you are so fond of wanting to get rid of, won't even play THAT long. They are likely to finish the story and move on. Not wanting to waste time replaying the same content (new difficulty != different content to them).

You might want to get on that then. With all the questions about builds, posts of builds, builds of the week.

Oh dear god you have your work cut out for yourself.
Those who just ask for build can go leave. Ask, ask, ask, take, take, take. That's all they do.

Those that ask and present they own builds at the same time get to actually start a discussion. They are asking for suggestions on they own ideas. There's an actual exchange. Huge difference.

Next point is that, the people I call stupid and/or lazy won't copy builds because they can't even be bothered to go look up the forums in the 1st place. Again, huge difference.

The build is there for some to just take. Someone who wants a build for a summoner can hope into a thread discussing such a build and be off. No discussion, no dialog.

Your tools for people who care, are also tools for people who don't really care. A single link can show someone all they need to have build X. It is also all that is needed to start a discussion about build X.

Not that huge. You won't SEE those people so it won't matter. The people who actually post asking for a build, WILL go looking or at least check a bit to see if there is one.

The attitude that they should all learn how to play the same way as you will just drive away anyone that has a chance of becoming someone that will give back.

I for one, won't do a build from scratch, I started out just using a build for a summoner, then tweaked it to my liking. Why not from scratch? Because I think the UI is horrible for it. In game it's horrendous, the website one being a bit better. Also, if a summoner wasn't possible, it would be good to know ahead of time since in MANY games it's not possible, or possible in only a certain way, or was possible but deemed too OP and now impossible.

Hrm that last paragraph kinda went off on a tangent. But it still conveys how I feel about having to read and work a spreadsheet to play a game. Although you can increase the annoyance if you want to add in the "it's only a week or so to level up to X playing X hours a day" crap though.

All the more reason not to cater to them in a game that's trying to make $ off of micro-transactions. They wont stick around past the first play through yet alone spend cash on cosmetics.

That aside, I do think a full respec at the end of normal difficulty and maybe even the higher ones wouldn't be that bad. Would take away a bit of the pain that randomness in skills/items/lack of knowledge causes upon your first few characters. A potential bonus would be that they could make the skill tree even more in depth due to the ability to fully respec 1-4 times depending on how many full respecs they make available. I understand that some people would "abuse" the system to power level their way through and then full spec into PvP build or use it to climb ladders faster etc. but it's just a thought on how they could make it easier on casuals.

Either way, I'll be more than happy with their current system.

P.S Not sure why it quoted the whole thing but I'm not going to take the time to fix it. ;)
