Passive Tree - Kind of Boring
" In other words player slots are going to be in microtransactions so to have a different build people will have to pay you money. You could have just said that instead of laying on the bullshit so thick. At least blizzard has the common courtesy to grease you up and let you know that you're about to get fucked before they actually do it. @ the other guy... It's not about "Needing" to respec. It's generally wanting to try something new and not wanting to spend another week leveling to do it. Mark my words, if you try to cater mainly to the hardcore gamer crowd, this game will be mired in mediocrity wrt player amounts and reviews. You will get tired of hearing "This game is absolutely amazing except..." |

They aren't forcing you to pay anything. The options to respec are there, you are just too lazy.

I've done some major re-speccing on my characters, like using 20+ regret orbs + quest points.
Gathering 20 regrets worth of orbs isnt even hard it takes like 2 days playing semi-casually. I think this leans to the casual gamer more than enough for most of them not to be crying over it, yet there's alays the few that will.. Besides, if u get lucky and find an exalted orb, go trade it for like 20 regrets. There's your free re-spec Beyeser - 77 Marauder
FuzzyClam - 80 Witch FishyTaco - 74 Witch |

" First off, there are 24 character slots per account. This allows you to have 4 different builds per class. If you need more than this GGG will probably sell more character slots in the future. If you want to do something new you will have to work for it. Now, about respeccing. " If a player (in general) can't (be bothered to) plan in advance, or even research what the game is about, then PoE certainly is not his/her type of game. I'm not saying those players are casuals and should play another game. It's just that this game requires more than in-game attention. |

" And this is cost it many more players than it will gain. |

" Alright Rasputin, tell me more. Respecs are very easy already. |

So it seems that according to the beta members and supporters here one should READ THE FORUMS like for 10 days BEFORE he/she starts playing the game ?
This is not the User Experience that I look for any game! Truth is that few games provide good User Experience so that it is easy and entertaining from the start...but reading the forums and doing research .... This is what made me drop other RPGs I just read over the forums for a month a figure out that OTHER PLAYERS achived almost everything ! And even if I was able to follow their excellent builds/items I am still a mere follower...no fun whatsoever because they made me READ/RESEARCH the forums first! So ease of play before study how to play and then play! P.S. I do not know what are the focus groups of GGG for the game and what is the high lvl requirement for the User/Game Experience but if they make a change that is really good they will change the whole genre. my philosophy is that you should just accept that your first character is going to suck, or at best, be mediocre. If you luck out and manage to create a character that is very strong & fun to play, great. Minor ability to respec is all you need to fully optimize him. If you don't, no worries. You've picked up equipment and currency that can be used on someone else, and you've gained knowledge and learned valuable information about what not to do. Its the possibility of failing that makes planing and building a character interesting. I might be weird, but I actually have as much fun or more planning on how to build a char than actually playing the game. A system like D3's is boring to me. I don't take people's word for what sucks or is great either, they may have missed something.

" Yes! The first character anyone ever makes is scaffolding. To simultaneously play the game for the first time, expect to hit the exact optimum build on the first try, and complain about not wanting to learn the mechanics is hypocrisy. So the answer to: " ... is either "Yes" or "Or learn it on your own as you play." Despite being beta without a tutorial, the game already does a pretty decent job of teaching you fundamentals that you'll need later. Hillock teaches you to use your flasks, Kuduku teaches you that you need a ranged attack/spell at all times, Fairgraves teaches you that you need some life and armor if you expect to survive, Merveil teaches you that you can't ignore your resists and defenses, Oak teaches you that you need to be able to sustain your damage... |
