So, there's something about the disagreement in this thread that's confusing me:

It seems like the people with beta keys are using the argument "It's not a marketing beta so all these things you're complaining about could be fixed."

Well, the entire point of this semi-public testing, it seems, is for people to find things that don't work as well as they should and give feedback on why they think that doesn't work and how it could be improved.

Sketchbag's original post seems to be doing exactly that, and it seems the people arguing him down aren't so much saying these aren't problems as they are saying they're exaggerated problems or problems which have plenty of time to be fixed. But those are exactly the things on which feedback should be given.

I haven't played the beta, so I have no idea if his criticisms actually are valid, and his way of expressing those criticisms is maybe a bit more snide than it needs to be. But if they are valid, and he's providing actual suggestions on how to improve them, why act like his opinion has no business being heard?

Just sayin', I found this thread far more interesting and constructive than most of the "This sucks! I'm sick of waiting! I didn't want to play your game anyway! DIABLO 3 HERE I COME" threads floating around here.

I'm not a beta tester but I would love to become one. From gameplay videos the game looks interesting, but at the same time, I get this bad gut feeling that even Diablo 2 may be better than this game in some ways. I haven't actually seen many spells or abilities used in any gameplay video that doesn't look anything more then the generic "firebolt", "icebolt", "aoe slash", etc. I could be wrong though, and hopefully I am. I really do hope developers are successful in making this game good, as I love the way the skill trees look, and think that pvp could have a big hit in this game.

Well, a thread like this was inevitable. PoE has started to generate a big enough hype to attract people outside the hardcore arpg fanbase.
PoE looks and plays (from what i've seen on streams) very similiar to Diablo 2. There aren't multiple basic attack or movement animations and gameplaywise there aren't many innovations. This might scare of new generation gamers.
Yes the game is old fashioned, but that is excactly what I'm looking for.
If you're looking for revolutionary design and mechanics you need to look somewhere else.

You criticized the games mechanics for what purpose? Seems to me this thread is nothing more but fail attempt to detour the fanbase into seeking what you call more appealing up to date MMOARPG's on or going on the market

Your entire rant could of been put to better use in the suggestions forum to possibly help contribute to Path Of Exile growth rather than creating this joke thread assuming the developers are already too far ahead in the beta phase to even consider Revamping the games core mechanics to better please the community.

Don't worry guys, I can say that the game feels good , plays good and it sounds good. Many issues are currently being discussed on the beta forums and even new mechanics, so you can bet that GGG will craft one awesome hell of a game.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the closed beta Sketch.

Granted, with the inherent restrictions a closed beta provides it's definitely not going to be playable for some people.

I guess that's what it amounts to; people who go in expecting things to work a certain way and people going in to test and bend the game different ways and report on them.
