Is the game still too complicated

This really reminds me of the five blind men and the elephant.

PoE can be played at many different levels in many different ways.

The very question "Is the game..." denies the truth that we're all playing differently from one another. "The game" isn't PoE. PoE is the setting where we invent our own games.

To be fair the game was much simpler back in the day. And yes even my friends that I introduced to the game is confused by some of its mechanics.

But that's the beauty of it really. You need knowledge of the game to be good at it and PoE is really the best example of this. The game itself is understanding the core mechanics behind PoE and its leagues. It makes things interesting and the one that invests time and brain power on it will always come out on top.

Tl;dr:

Ye a bit until you get the hang of it.

the mechanics are complex
but when you get past the learning curve you can easily notice the patterns that trivializes endgame
and then what is left is to learn how to kill bosses efficiently, map routing and what items to sell or buy (if you are not SSF)
just download PoB and learn what matters and not in the calc and config tabs, regarding EDPS and EHP

I really like the game, I put a lot of money into it, but I don't feel like it anymore, because the content and its complexity is just too much ... I don't look through it anymore, and first go back into it for weeks and months finding it is too tedious for me... I really think it's a shame =/

Chaos recipe generates 2-3 ex an hour? I'm skeptical.

This guy POEs.

Every league brings new/more content. It's just going to get more and more complex to get into from scratch. I'd love to reset my memory of this game and start without any knowledge. Half the fun is figuring things out and experiencing the game for the first time.

if you dont want to think just follow a guide
there are literally thousand to choose from
