This game is better without an auction house, although it really hurts the game that there is no way to set up shop in a bazaar or something.
Fighting the war against the AltF4Core! Hardcore is for whimps.

Jay Wilson is wrong about his own game.
The (gold) AH was not the problem with D3. The itemisation itself was crappily designed. All the AH did was bring this to the fore quicker than it otherwise would have. Take the AH away from D3 and it still would have the same itemisation problems. Last edited by jiussa#5776 on Mar 29, 2013, 8:27:49 AM

" I think the two became inextricably linked. My guess is some wise dev suggested the AH as a means to control 3rd party issues but then some accountant/manager got in on the act and corrupted the noble intentions. Much like the hero of D1 when he took in the Soulstone, the act of introducing the AH destroyed all that was good about the game. Last edited by LunathirEth#3665 on Mar 29, 2013, 9:12:44 AM

" yep pretty much. I stopped playing D3 because items were boring and they weren't worth farming. affixes are boring, legendaries are boring... But I guess they actively trying to fix that. They added crafting with base stat. But it's still boring, unless they come up with interesting affixes to create unique builds. And the fact you don't have to level up a new character to try a new build is kinda killing the game aswell. Without new content, you don't really have anything new to do in the game. PoE forums ignore list script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally. Last edited by kodr#0209 on Mar 29, 2013, 9:14:01 AM

Think of a primitive economy, which is what this game has. It fits the lore, it fits the style, it fits the currency.
Barter is the most primitive form of trade. Some people might get 'scammed' (Like me when I was new and bought an ilvl 13 Searing Touch for an Ex) but that's the beauty of it. People place different value on items than others and you have to interact to make trades. In Wraeclast there is no 'automated' system of trade, such as an AH. It doesn't fit the story or style or currency. This is an island of exiles struggling to survive; scrapping together the seashells and crap they find, trying to beg for the things they desperately need to make it another night in the cold dark wilderness. |

Either GGG implemets an auction house or someone else will. Its inevitable. Imagine an ebay for POE with seller rating. I cant wait for the day when http://poe.xyz.is/ actually does this.
Also there is nothing wrong with an AH. Using D3 as an example is also wrong. The problem there is the involvement of real money. Noone is asking for that in POE. What we want is a comfortable way to do trades with minimum time effort so that we can play the actual game more. Really, sometimes I think a lot of the naysayers are just scammers who do not want to lose their income. Last edited by inf666#6833 on Mar 29, 2013, 9:57:37 AM

AH in this game wouldn't hurt since items in the game are the currency and would actually stabilize the economy
