Real Money Auction House RMAH for poe
" How are the anti arguments logically absurd? You realize you support using money to beat video games, right? If you do not see how this is wrong... My head literally hurts from the stupidity, I can't take it all. Last edited by xxnoob#7582 on May 8, 2012, 9:32:22 PM

I actually agree with xxnoob's general comment (not specific to your position,) albeit not the particular way that he put it so bluntly.
Getting ahead in a video game by use of money is pretty absurd in my book. Ties in quite well with the other things I've stated, and levels the playing field even for 'cheap' purchases (of which, no game has universally cheap prices, particularly when cheap is relative.) There is *ONE* alternative where I believe that money would be acceptable and here is the scenario: You are playing with your friends in an online only game that is absolutely massive... we're talking like 100's of hours of content. Your friends have substantial time on their hands and tend to play without you... however when you do get some time, the only way to play with them is to purchase items to be on par with them. You do not go out of your way to get the best stuff out there... you simply acquire necessities to be on par with your campaign buddies. That is the single situation, where I'd agree that the use of money to experience the game content, which you could not do otherwise, with your friends, without affecting the overall top end game economy, would be fine... as you are hurting nobody, and you are facilitating enjoyment of the game. " He's trolling because instead of replying to, you know, anything I've said, he instead calls me stupid. But anyway. Games let you use whatever you have at your disposal, within the established rules. From Lego Harry Potter, to Chess, to Doom, to Civilization, to Bridge. Some of those even have blatant "Cheat codes". Put there by the game makers. Some of them prevent outside influences, but they do it completely. Lacking a RMAH, but allowing all the other "Whatever you have at your disposal" (including... paying money for gear, through 3rd party sites), it's just... Why even bother? You're giving all the advantage that you perceive to the players who least deserve it - the people willing to go outside the game, rather than doing it through the game itself. Those (impacts in other games) are way more impactful than picking up an item in a game where skill > build > gear. Gear is about the least important part of the game. I think it's absurd that you would CARE if someone else did something absurd. What does it hurt you? It doesn't. How does it help you? It funds the company (and therefore the game) you love. I only see one logical conclusion: Let people play how they want, and get a better game in the end. Edit: So why is your scenario ok? Again, you're drawing arbitrary lines in the sand of what's "OK" and what's "not ok" *in a scenario where it doesn't affect you*. Whether that guy gets to play with his buddies or not, if you're not him (or his buddy) there's no difference in your game. You don't get less items. You don't get harder monsters. Just like, if a RMAH existed, there wouldn't be Any. Difference. When. YOU. Play. The. Game. Last edited by AgentDave#2974 on May 8, 2012, 10:45:24 PM

" Expansive guitar will give you definitely the edge.. but of course ..skill is important... Like in PoE.. :P..awesome ..isn't it? I have to agree with AgentDave..He wrote everything I wanted but in much better way. While I understand why many are against RMAH or anything like that.. many people here are just creating stupid hyperbolas from nothing. If money can enhance my gameplay and don't affect anyone else in negative way, I don't see what is so damn immoral about that. Last edited by ManiaCCC#5219 on May 8, 2012, 10:53:11 PM

" It's my personal pragmatic ethical boundary, not the absolute position I was arguing previously. I still believe that the intended mode of play is not to inject money in order to get ahead... this is my (the) ethically ideal stance However, in the scenario where it's unregulatable and thus pragmatic ethics apply, the scenario where it doesn't affect the top economy and increases individual game satisfaction is the optimal (least impactful) outcome. There are clearly varying degrees to which money can influence games, from not at all to totally dominating it... each position can be argued successfully.. it's just a matter of which sets of positions are regulatable and within that subset, which side was most intended. " Sorry, the person debating against me, left on the note of, "I think you have no idea what you talking about"........ Here is a religious movie to watch for some religious view point.. a few personal insult's... he wouldnt take "society at large to court" to get the socialy decided ethics answer's he was after(Though he couldnt work out that as a point or that I cannot help him by agreeing with him)... And just kept mindlessly repeating how he couldnt understand any of it. He doesnt agree that a community's values are of any importance. He also keeps carefully avoiding "Universal Law" and why it matter's. That de-regulating marajuwana is the same thing. He also keeps stating that my belief is that ethics are "cut n dry" without actualy reasoning it or factoring out that this is a very specific topic to debate about.. And for the most part, he believe's that every rule/opinion ever created he personaly needs to modify or agree/disagree with himself to his biased personal satisfaction before it has any real relevance to affect him or others. He act's like he has a right to this money option. I call this heresy. The dictionary, call's this heresy. Its straight up "Heresy". Patriot Act this MOFO!. Why would I consider even bothering debating against this logic?.... And all you on a rmah's side keep wondering why people enter into this conversation asking why your logic is so foged up. Conclustion...I Stoped... www.tachi203.com : For live streams, gameplay, news of me +(.
