I can totally understand why someone would prefer Torchlight over D2. If I hadn't been on the Bnet bandwagon by the time D2 came out, if I'd come to ARPGs much later, I'd definitely put D2 beneath both Torchlight and Titan Quest. BUT I'd also acknowledge that neither could exist without D2.
Torchlight is probably the most polished ARPG single player experience I've played -- not really saying all that much, but still, it was very slick indeed. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I like TL and Titan Quest, but I think D2 is better... I played TL and Titan Quest once, but D2.. uncountable ...

The game can be preorder on steam. At the moment TL2 is one of the top sellers on Steam.

This game was made by the creators of D1 and D2 so in a lot of ways T2 will be more like D2 than D3. Plus, what really annoys me in D3 is that they went with the semi cartoony graphics, which I don't like. You either go 100% on cartoony (like T2) or 100% 'real' like D2 or PoE. But we'll see how it turns out.
