Why GGG CAN'T CREATE A REALLY GOOD UNIQUE ITEM since beta?
Pull a Charan and make one.

" Been a long time since I've played Diablo 3 myself, but yes - as far as I know, the end game revolves around 99% unique and set items. I may be wrong here, and I am open for people to correct me. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

The real name of uniques are Memes.
They will make 100 bad uniques and one decent unique. |

" If you want, you can use it as an auctionhouse repellent spray ? unlimited supply, no prize tag and a easy turnoverrate " I am guilty of hypeing those into oblivion. Then i stopped doing that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

I dont know what criteria you have for good uniques but you are just wrong. All of breach uniques were good or great, same with bestiary, incursion, half of delve ones, synthesis were decent. The only kinda iffy i would say were from Harbinger but even those are usefull to some extent.

" That helmet was useful for ultra deep delve teams in the past. It was a good combo with gluttony of elements. |

" Yeah, I do recall that. I guess should have said I didn't know what I would use it for specifically. Delving to insane depths was never interesting to me as it just becomes one shot fest for you and the monsters. Not really fun for me. Thanks for all the fish!

" Exactly. This is why companies like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube went broke long ago. Never give the customer what they want. Where your comment fails is what is considered reasonable. Let's make it a lot clearer. Imagine if the players had a satisfaction rating they could give for each league (say 1-10). Now imagine that the rule was that GGG employees could only access half of their bank accounts if the player's combined rating was less than 9/10. The players could call the new banking/rating system "Challenging". GGG employees would scream and howl about how unfair it was. People aren't really asking for the game to be easier, they are just asking for some consistency, and for the game to not intentionally shaft players. Here's an example - when an item like body armor rolls 2 good resistance mods, why is there almost always a 3rd non resistance suffix? The item may easily have 5 mods, but a third mod that blocks a good set of resists is almost always there. I suspect the game is programmed to intentionally add crap rolls to items with a few really good stats, and isn't random at all. " For some types of players this is true. Other types of players want to play a certain build or in a certain play style and don't care about the power level. Give them a reliable way of farming/crafting items that takes longer than just farming currency and trading, and you haven't broken the game one iota. " That would only happen if the game play itself wasn't exciting. Where are the tier 20 maps? Why does the game still have trash mobs, instead of making the player fight their way through? Diminishing Returns could fix all of their major balance problems, and allow people to play a wide variety of builds. It would mean uniques wouldn't break the game. GGG could still play the new league meta routine by allowing new skills and new items a less steep diminishing return algorithm. The same thing could apply to maps and drops. It works for everything in the real universe. The answer is not 42, it is 4.67 ![]() "The only legitimate use of a computer is to play games." - Eugene Jarvis

" I'm touched that anyone would want to pull a me! (In a number of ways, some of which I'll keep to myself.) All jerks aside, you can't actually buy a unique design anymore, at least not without directly approaching GGG and paying over twice what everyone else did -- all of which I read as an implicit 'fuck off, we're full'. And, as the OP and others have pointed out, unless you really go out of your way to make it stand out, your vanity unique will probably be lost in the insane amount of glut both already in the game and added on a regular basis. But if anyone were to design a unique, my recommendation is *always* a Map. It's just such a different sort of unique, and the design flexibility is sort of insane. Instead of making an item that only some people might even want to equip, you're creating an experience that very easily can stand out from the crowd because rare Maps come and go so quickly. Also, brainstorming ideas for your little pocket dimension of doom is a fucking blast.

And no, I typically don't respond to 'Charan' anymore. He's just a character. But in this case, you meant me; 'Charan' definitely didn't make the sword. If anything, sort of the opposite ('Wielding Oni-Goroshi made me the man I am today!' [insert severelyscarredperson.gif here]).
" Before Delve, this was just an interesting example of what happens when a Diablo 1 player (OG Exile Lachdanan) makes their own unique and wants to pay homage to one (or two) of the more memorable uniques. Not that Gotterdamerung is copyrighted or anything, but "veil of the night" is something of a misnomer. Veils are sexy, alluring, concealing but revealing, and the night, well, sort of the same. This helmet is just a blindfold made of steel that exposes you to the elements for some ridiculous reason. OTOH 'Veil of Steel' is also taken, amusingly by the same D1 base item as Gotterdamerung. They were both Great Helms -- Veil of Steel was the quest version and given to you by the real Lachdanan; Gotterdamerung was just a drop. Also bafflingly, the Veil of Steel *buffed* your resistances by 50%, which in D1 was extremely high -- I think only the Constricting Ring topped that, and it came with a constant self-DoT. I had a light-reduction unique at discussion with Design phase for a little while -- I really wanted to create something (likely a hood) that gave you serious melee damage buffs and reduced chance to be hit at the cost of light radius -- you know, basic stealth approach. This actually worked with Gotterdamerung in D1, as light radius dictated monster awareness, which was brilliant and made for some surprisingly fun tactical approaches to an otherwise straightforward game. But as it turns out, every idea I came up with was too easily broken because, shock and horror and gasp, PoE's idea of 'melee' is fuuuuuucked. ^_^ If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Sep 6, 2020, 12:48:35 AM

some of the player uniques are truly a cut above though Charan and I think are probably worth the effort if you have a good enough idea.
I know sire of shards was done by a pleb and I think that is about the coolest unique in the game, its a real boon that its there. Meanwhile whoever made hallowed ground only wanted players to suffer! |
