Why GGG CAN'T CREATE A REALLY GOOD UNIQUE ITEM since beta?

The top1 unique items of this game has been created 5 or 6 years ago. Kaom's heart, belly of the beast, Shavrones. It's being a while since GGG doesn't make anything good when talking about uniques. We had council's bow that was immediately destroyd after prophecy league, poet's pen that was somehow popular and that's it. They are REWORKING (replicas) 100 unique items and holy moly, they have the incredible ability to rework 100 bad uniques in another 100 new bad uniques. Til when these items its going to be only alchemy shards? I was holding this thread til Bex released new tukohoma's shield. I mean, gave it pain attenument or something, GZUZ Christ, make the build diversity and crazy shit AVAILABLE for us... I can't understand why GGG keeps bothering themselfs on "reworking" unique items that worth 1 alchemy to maybe worth 1c or nothing. Dude, if you want us to use only rare items then just give up about unique, stop working on it or maybe just remove it from the game (the bad ones), nobody cares with them anyway. yea, no new uniques have ever been good.
paradoxia. saviour. farruls fur. loreweave. bottled faith. cinderswallow urn. timeless jewels. maloneys mechanism. Circle of XYZ rings. do i need to continue? or is the hyperbole done now? yes, they make bad uniques all the time. No, not every unique they make is bad. |

Nah, not true.
Dont let the validity of your post (tons of underwhelming uniques) get lost in hyperbole. There have been plenty of good & OP items since beta. Problem is that it's the exception not the rule, and we have hundreds of trash unique items. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Define "really good"?
Anyhow, it's not about "not being able to create", it's a design choice. They don't want unique items to be "BiS", turning PoE into Diablo 3, where every slot is filled by a unique item. They are supposed to be "unique", not "legendary" or "most powerful". Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

There's tons of good uniques... But uniques in this game aren't supposed to be the main thing with which your character is geared with -- that's diablo 3. The uniques in POE basically fall into 4 categories:
1) Generically decent but not great items: Starkonja's, belly of the beast, lioneye's remorse, atziri's disfavour, carcass jack etc. - these are all "end game viable" uniques, but there's better rares out there if you can find/craft them 2) Build enabling uniques: Cospri's malice, eternal apple, call of the brotherhood, devouring diadem, brutus' lead sprinkler, astramentis (to some degree), - these all have builds that's won't work without them or are mostly useless to characters that aren't using them for a specific build purpose. 3) Leveling uniques: tabula rasa, gold brim, wanderlust, etc. 4) Trash uniques that might be good for leveling or just meh but might fit into some random builds: most uniques Also of note, POE basically has an implemented "kiss of death" with each unique making it so that no unique is too powerful. Kaom's heart: 500 life, but no sockets and no resists, so you'll have to make it up elsewhere. Kaom's roots: Same thing. Belly of the beast: Decent life, some resists, overall okay - but you'll have to make up the resists and anything else somewhere else on your gearing. Same with carcass jack. Starkonja's: Good crit, good life, good dex, good evasion - no resists, no additional dmg modifiers (and honestly, probably one of the best overall uniques in the game). And virtually no unique will have GOOD life and GOOD resists, it's either decent life with no/poor resists, or the opposite. Any unique flask: You're giving up an ailment removal typically to run a unique flask, magic flasks are typically required in at least some number to prevent this problem. This makes it so you can't typically gear up an endgame character with nothing but uniques, or even mostly uniques, because you're meant to actually craft/find/trade for good rares. Expecting GGG to release a bunch of OP uniques is silly. This game has never been about gearing up with uniques for end game. Also the harvest staff w/ brand surge wasn't bad from my experience with it and the amulet w/ blind could certainly be used in some builds to great advantage. There are few solutions for the problem of blocking good uniques because they will be BIS and rares will be useless. I will name few of them:
1)Destroy unique as they are - predesigned - instead add small possiblity to roll tier 0 (unique affix) onto rares. Influence is already working similary to it. 2)Make uniques BIS, but on the other hand allow to only wear few of them at a time. You will need to pick your BIS and then fill rest with rares. |

" Funny that half of the examples were nerfed since introduction. Paradoxica and Bottled Faith are still living... I should add The Eternity Shroud to the list, very powerful and interesting unique with special interaction. |
