PSA: Heist isn't timer based...it's a loot gate.

i'm exited how they will solve the resulting xp problem: since those guards keep respawning they can't give xp.

which makes it useless to fight them in the first place, just put phase run on lmb and leave as fast as you can.

which punishes slow moving builds cause they have to waste time fighting for no xp.

a arpg should reward you for fighting mobs.

There are previous mechanics that had endless swarms of enemies. Elreon's old missions, for instance. In all cases, you do get xp and loot for killing the 'normal' amount of enemies, but after a point if you're just camping around killing the respawns forever then the new mobs no longer grant anything. But normal play isn't penalized, only exploitative use of the mechanic.

sure thing, but this seems different since monsters get harder over time (i guess).

maybe we even have to fight bosses after the heist (it only makes sense there). it would be a mix of getting xp and getting no xp.

Loosing the loot that you looted during the Heist and is on ur inventory is a freaking retarded idea.

I already read to many complains about this

It's not retarded. Bad? Well, that's up for discussion. But losing your loot when you die, isn't retarded. It's been done in thousands of games before. Hell, even Diablo 2 did that. Sure, you could pick it up again, bud you did lose it.

You're stealing their stuff. Why would they successfully stop you, and then not take their stuff back?

Hell, they should take all your stuff and make you come back to get it :)
Thanks for all the fish!

Admittedly there is a decent amount of vague and coded language.

Why would you have to "hurry up" and grab the artifact if/when you set off the alarm? Obviously there is some sort of time gated mechanic, but it's not entirely clear how much, or even why.

This has already been asked and answered. Once you set off the alarms, you have a timer to *grab loot*. It sounds like the lockdown makes all remaining special loot that's on the ground (artifacts or whatever) disappear once the timer is up. Then you have an infinite time to escape.
You can still pick up the contraband on the floor, you just can't open more chests (including the goal) after the alarm timer ends.

In fairness it wasnt asked and answered officially when I made that post.

Still, its timed, so my point remains.

As long as the monsters keep getting harder they ought to give exp. I think it will be a great source of rips if this is the case. I hope for the sweet sweet irony of lvl 99 streamers taking a risk for that small little bit of exp and then losing 10% (or their char life) b/c of their greed.
As long as I can play in a stealthy way to change the pace of regular play I will be more than happy. Rushing through maps is tiring and gets kind of dull. So an opportunity to play a different way would be nice.

GGG should be applauded for trying something different. At first I was dismissive of Heist but now I'm look forward to have a go. Just as long as my PS4 doesn't crash during a heist...
Too bad there is not a sneak stat in the game
