Difference between Blizzard and GGG
Question: How does it feel bright and toony? The ambience is as dark as D2 or D1 ever way. The visuals are more stylized, but that's as much to take items actually LOOK like something as it is to set it apart from other ARPGs. It's like borderlands, which didn't want to look like every other shooter ever and fade into obscurity. I found the ambience more than satisfactory, it had hat same dark closed in feeling that D2 had in many places.
bright as in the textures seem very "shiny" even the dirt in town seems to emit light. toony as in the characters, they just don't seem right, all rounded edges. Its really close to right (ambiance), its just missing something, feels off. The other issues probably wouldn't bother me as much if the voice acting didn't keep pulling me out of the game, its just bad. Disagree if you wish, after all, games are an art form and everyone will have their own opinion

I don't get the voice acting complaint. I've heard games with god awful voice acting (skyrim??) and Diablo 3 isn't one of them.

like i said everyone will have their own opinion, but for me, the wizard sounds like hes whispering, or is hoarse, doesn't sound natural, like someone doing an impression, worst for me by far is the little skeleton king intro. Cain running across the ledge "ooh may this ledge hold" sounds like a spoof, and like they are trying to tell you what is happening as you watch it, yes i can see you run across the ledge. then the king shows up and sounds like some bad power rangers villain. yes it is my opinion, and others may not have issue, just doesn't work for me, pulls me out of the immersion

I'd blame the writing and direction first, before I threw flames at the voice actors.

Also the game looks "wow dark", WoW doesn't take itself seriously (at least I hope not lol) so using Warcraft inspired graphics for Diablo was a dumb decision.

didnt think about the writing or the directing, could also be it, and nice comparison with the pics, maybe thats why it feels off

Well I felt the same thing with SWTOR, outright bad writing and voice actors who could have probably done a lot better with proper directing and scenes.

My Demon Hunter didn't sound too bad, but the writing was very cheesy and yeah.

Blizzard games don't usually take themselves very seriously anyway.

I mean... Wirt's leg? Wit's OTHER leg? Cow level? Half the item names in most blizz games are puns.

Did you really just compare a zoomed in picture of an isometric ARPG to a regular picture of an mmo?

So? Wirt's Peg Leg shouldn't give you anything to laugh about, it belonged to the kid from Diablo 1 and it's all bloodied. Wirt's Other Leg was in Warcraft.

Because they are in very similar areas.

My post was more about the text you wrote on it anyway.
Comparing a super zoomed in ARPG to anything else is just being ridiculous.

Shogun 2 doesn't have nearly as much character detail as mount and blade. Does that make it a bad looking game? (lol)
