How to spot a downward trend... POE will struggle in the year ahead.

The game itself has kind or ran its course... more so, every league brings its own cumbersome stacks of ever new skills, useless uniques and adding to an already pretty complex game (working tooltips anyone?).

But this game came from a very good place... and quickly loses its way. The Harvest league, meant to be an experiment on crafting could not have been a worse choice from GGG. Keep in mind most are quarantining with lots of time... and people left the game in a hasty way... myself included.

But forging ahead with POE 2... which every flop leagues incoming dwindles the hype I have for it... and the fact that Diablo 2 resurrected might actually pop up at about the exact same time... and you have lost your base altogether...

Some will remain, the sponsored streamers... but the exodus will be huge. Most older players will go back to simplicity and nostalgia. (frankly that's what brought us to this game in the beginning... and eerie familiar feel with a twist). And the hype will move on...

What appears right is that Chris Wilson thought he had found the never ending manufactured recipe for an ever playabe game... And doing so, every iteration seems more like a repackaging of the previous with more useless skills that end up revamped and highlighted in a future repetitive iteration.

Too much of a good thing does become a bad thing. for casual players (i.e. not 24/7) the amount of time and needed outsider resources required to learn the game is way too time consuming vs. the actual fun factor.

As well, the SSF choice revealed an unwillingness to make this game coop. If the lag and screen overwhelming graphics are not enough of a deterrent.

Basically, I do not see this going uphill from here. And POE 2 may well falter due to a D2 remaster... Talk about your inspiration coming back to bite you.

I really enjoyed this game, it was pretty well thought and amazing until they started litterally dumping more and more purposeless stuff that needed fixing a month through a 3 months league.

Too bad.

Very nice and positive post. Totally agree, last couple years the trend is steep downhill. Harvest was a last squeeze on top of formed pyramid of what poe has become.

PVP in POE? Simply impossible. The game is so far out of whack when it comes to balance concerning offense vs. defense.

It makes no sense to me that a L96 character playing on a L83 area with BiS gear can be one-shot from off screen. Yet, it happens fairly often in this game.

Since the designers have only focused on damage, how could you possible expect to have a decent PVP experience? Seems to me, first shooter always wins. How is that a challenge? How is that fun?

You have to look beyond the molehills to see the larger mountain of a problem here.

Scripted content cannot last forever. We'll just get tired of doing it one day and that day is here for a few of us. The developers have to put in work and that costs $$$ to produce. What Harvest shows is it can also be a dud.

In PvP damage would be life pool percentage based so one shots aren't really a thing. That solves your issue without eliminating all P2P from the experience.
Oh look another "poe is dying" thread. Lol
I didn't even make it to yellow maps this league, I was so bored. I just could not be bothered to do the mines grind again. I believe Chris said that the next league is apparently a "big one" and implied Harvest is a filler league, during one of his thank you posts a month ago. At least that's the way I took it.
How is having a lot of content bad? No one forces you to even go Delve/Incursion/Beast/etc. You could just skip the content that you do not like.

You could run just beachstones/poorjoys the whole day and ignoring eveything else. You could do niko rotas and deep Delve, you can target farm beasts, Uber Elder, Sirus etc.
I just think I should take a break.

To be honest I do not have the time needed to spend in the game, and having leagues that are resolved around crafting doesn't make me happy, as I don't have the currency to buy anything.

Don't get me wrong, for example last league I played for 3 weeks, had 2 chars and ended up with 7-8 exalts to spare and brought back in standard.

This league I have only one char that I can run safely, no currency to upgrade my gear ex unending hunger and expensive stuff , and have only 1 ex that I managed to get from a lucky Alva that gave me T3 corruption ( poor guy busted his amulet still paid me).

I tried selling crafts but it's slow and painful .

People are generating such expensive items, makes it impossible for a non crafter to even get close to those items.

I really don't have time to study POE like I study for my CCIE for example, so I think there is a time when you just have to get a life and quit poe .

This league is just not funny enough ..

Yeah I don't see any sourced data to confirm any of these claims either. Seems like negative projection and speculation formed from an opinion of a person who clearly isn't playing the current league.

Truuuuuuue.

A lot of the people comparing this situation to WoW are correct as well. You can keep saying it's dying, but we keep seeing competitors crash and burn, so who should I believe? A random dolt on the internet, or the pattern I'm seeing with my own eyes?

MMORPG is a dead genre. More so with western MMORPG like warcraft. Getting a new

When Ubisoft skipped one league cycle to fix R6. The game is still shit to this days regard to technicalities. So, yeah, no point in skip a league cycle to fix, better spend that resources into poe2.
Need more frontal assets and backal assets armor!

Weird how ESO, WoW, FF14, Oldschool Runescape, EVE Online, ArcheAge, Black Desert Online, The Old Republic, and even friggin Aion aren't going anywhere and in over half those cases keep growing

That is because these people thinks that, just because they're fed up with a game or genre, they think it's also "dead" for everyone else, even thought they don't have any data to prove their claim.

It's pretty hilarious, really. Every single claim in this thread, saying "game is dead" or "ARPG/MMOs are is dying" has yet to prove their claim with actual data that really shows they're right.

If those people don't like the game and are done with it, that's ok, but they really need to stop projecting their opinions, like it is a fact.
