Name a ARPG better than PoE

Not sure why they released a new campaign instead of making a true successor with no legacy clutter.
But i guess the MTX dependency is too important to ignore so they settled with a okayish middleground.

They explained this too, and the reason is because of what anyone who's been playing games for more than 3 years already knows. If you make a sequel, you divide the playerbase, and it would be more catastrophic to divide the PoE playerbase between two games than it is to 'merge' the two together. No reason in the world for them to make a completely new game, just call the next massive update PoE2.

This makes hardly any sense though. If it's called PoE 2 it's implied it's a new game, not just a massive update.

That's like if Blizzard were to release Diablo 4 with just a different variant of Diablo 3.

The differance is that PoE actually has gotten supported over the years and is much less hated. Not to mention its free to play.
Making a seperate PoE 2 would mean PoE 1 would die. Or atleast suffer badly. Not only that would they support both games seperatly then?
What about all microtransactions, would it only work in PoE 1?

To me it totaly makes sense that they merge. I also think endgame will have PoE 2 maps, monsters etc..

Considering you get 7 new acts, new story, 16 new classes, all new items, reworked graphics.. Yes i would say its more then just an update.

We need a new category for ARPGs because I'm tired of people comparing FPSs as ARPGs. We need to add Isometric to the mix. So many of these trash FPS games being thrown in the mix.

Go read the definition of ARPG and post it here

No you. Hopefully you are smarter than that. if not, I understand your post.
scantum breach is better
So all you really end up having is playing the economy, and plowing maps. And if you want to get anywhere on your character, you are better off mowing monsters down like weeds and just collecting pennies of the ground as fast as possible than any meaningful item hunting.

Thats why I get a bit sceptical when People say Toarchligt 2 or Grim Dawn. They are good games, no doubt.
But is it reeeeeeeaally a game you can play over and over for years? I doubt it.

I been playing for Grim Dawn for at least four years with a little bit of time during the alpha/beta days.

I have over 1200 hours in the game and that is possibly my longest offline game time I ever spent on... and I am still doing vanilla content. God forbid I get into playing mods like Reign of Terror....many hundreds of hours more will be stacked up.

Edit: I usually go back and forth with PoE and Grim Dawn throughout the years, but this year has been all Grim Dawn. Honestly though, I still have PoE in a special place in my heart since I spent at least 3000 hours here. Grim Dawn has grown on me more since the game keeps getting better and better and it helps the devs are still giving free updates after Forgotten Gods was released over a year ago.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Hmm, Diablo 2.. lord of destruction comes to mind. Wow, it's almost like they kept the same base game name, but added an expansion name!

Following your logic, D2 LoD should have been released as Diablo 3.

Yeah go try Grim Dawn.

I still think the original Sacred, as buggy as it was, is the best ARPG I have played.

I like Grim Dawn a fair bit, I'm a bit of a casual so the game seems to get a little unforgiving once you get into the higher difficulties.

I played a lot of the original Sacred and really enjoyed it. A lot of depth to that game and I liked the world.

Okay so what did LoD do. One new act that simply continues the main story, 2 new classes, some small stuff here and there.
Really no visual upgrades at all besides better resolution support.

PoE 2, A completly new story with 7 acts! Remember all D3/D2 had was 3 acts and a super tiny one on release.
16 new subclasses. All base items visuals reworked, new animations, new PBR texturing. And the list can continue.
We can also asume all the edgame maps in PoE 2 will be based on new tilesets.

Not at all same thing as comparing it with LoD. Its a completly different story.

Also concidering PoE basically releases new expansions every year. Dilerium, Harvest etc... It makes sense to call this PoE 2 when its waaay bigger then any expansion pack would be.
So yeah your wrong. Baaaaaam!

Think of it as a new game that is backwards compatible.

Graphics will get incremental improvements to match the PoE 4.0 quality.

Mainly visual revamps of legacy campaign zones (a1-a10) and new animations for the current character models, the same ways zombies got new animations.

First glimpse of POE2(4.0) quality was the updated Lioneye's Watch with 3.9.

Even before 4.0 (PO2) launches the graphics will already look way better than today, so the magepatch will mainly be new subclasses, skill gem rework and new acts.

PoE 2 isn't going to have its own endgame. Both versions will share the same endgame maps.
