Zooming

Agreed that it's too zoomed in. Definitely needs an option to zoom out some.
people will just whine for most silliest reasons... we dont need zoom out people and we already have zoom in game is almost fully polished! View distance in my opinion (and prolly about 75% beta players too) is great and there is no need for increasing it!!

Problem with that is, if you can zoom out more due to your higher resolution screen, more then another player, and actively beable to utilize the further range you can now see because you zoomed out.

You'd beable to see him before he see's you.

Thats why zooming isn't in =\

Be like League of Legends with further zoom, though you have camera control, but the max zoom is still locked, likewise with SC2.

Most Isometric games lock camera zoom for this reason, as it is unfair to other players, there has to be a reasonable median zoom that the player is forced to place within.

On league of legends, you can zoom in how-ever since that offers no advantage to you rather then a disadvantage.

__________

As for zooming out in this game, it would be considered too powerful for a number of reasons.

More time to dodge Super Sniper Goat Shaman that shoot you from waaaayyy over there.

and More awareness of player movements in cut-throat, and it'll just turn into a zooming war to out-range each other....

Hence why zoom is locked.

You do realize that high area HD screen users can shrink their game window size to make them see further, right?

furthermore, i fully support including zooming into the game..maybe then i wont get unfairly killed every hour by a reflect mob i cant even see...

zooming out without increasing enemies' awareness will screw the game. Thats why I don't like the advantage of stretched window.

People claiming giant advantage are talking none sense. Zoom it out some.

(Why is it none sense?)
Because each class gets the same skills they want, and it being zoomed out 1 notch wont hurt anything. Infact a majority of everyone on these forums has been wanting it.
First thing I noticed was how zoomed in the FOV was.

For this reason I always play in window mode and strech it a bit, helps but is only a workaround.

Definitely needs 25%-35% zoom out, so plus one to that.
Ideally it's optional in Settings or alternatively via a config file (ala Skyrim)...

I think it is very difficult to add new features to the engine if it were not foreseen at least initially. This is the encroachment into the core system and I think it will take a while to make it quality and performance acceptable.

Yes thats the idea... but its still limited, not free zoom.

FoV only changes relative to Aspect ratio, which is to prevent obvious stretching.

4:3
16:9
16:10

Though if Eyefinity/Surround is supported which I'm not sure since I don't have that setup anymore, that would greatly increase the native aspect ratio, which actually worked in LoL believe it or not.

But there is no FoV increase.

Point being everyone is pretty much on a fair playing field, not having to choose between having more advantage being zoomed way out till your character is a spec, and actually being zoomed in enough to see how pantless your character is!

Best Zoom your gonna get is going for 16:10 resolutions but thats it... Now stop complaining about pointless things.

Next.

Just my 2 cents concerning this point. Confirming SLI Surround is natively supported. I play at a (rounded) 5:1 aspect ratio. FOV is not terribly increased, in fact LOD is what prevents me from seeing the last quarter of the first and third monitor.

Normally I see more than what the map overlay provides, and often I see people missing good stuff because it's out of their screen.

On the downside anything below the screen is still the bane of my existence as they often see me before I see them. What I would give for a zoom option. Also, you wouldn't believe what a PITA it is to move a large amount of items from stash (clinging to the left) and inventory (clinging to the right).

I don't think you understand how minor this change would be to implement. It isn't messing with anything "into the core system", whatever that means.

Untrue. Going from 16:9 to 16:10 I lost vision on the sides and gained none on the top/bottom. Easiest way to demonstrate this is by playing in windowed mode and making it shorter - the vertical field of vision is constant, while the wider your ratio the more you see of the sides and thus overall. One can see several times as far to the east or west than they can north or south, a problem compounded by the camera angle. Enemies can also hide to the north of walls, which is a huge pain.

The camera is not fine in its current state and has a fair bit of room for improvement, give the tallscreen users a chance!
