Zooming
so i'm betting this has been discussed to death, but is there a way to zoom? as it stands the camera is too close in, and i get a headache every 20 minutes or so. pretty annoying.

It needs to be zoomed out more.
Compared with playing ranged in Sacred 1, 2 or looking at the demo of the Occultist of Grimdawn, a ranged character. Also being frozen/shocked/burnt by a magic bolt fired off-screen from 1/1/2 to 2 screens away when you are stuck in the animation of cracking pots and opening baskets and can't dodge, isn't funny at all. The bottom of the screen is worse than the top in this respect. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL! +1 for zoom
really an easy way to improve fun on playing this game. btw: if performance was reason to have the camera distance so close, i dont think the game eats up that much resources. additionally to the above mentioned point of enemies being 1,5 screens far away it also sucks if close obstacles arent being faded or get any oppacity. pretty much a pain if you cant change the camera but got possible targets in areas you cant ever see. so if no camera movement is planed you might want to think about radial opacity in 15yard distance. Problem with that is, if you can zoom out more due to your higher resolution screen, more then another player, and actively beable to utilize the further range you can now see because you zoomed out.
You'd beable to see him before he see's you. Thats why zooming isn't in =\ Be like League of Legends with further zoom, though you have camera control, but the max zoom is still locked, likewise with SC2. Most Isometric games lock camera zoom for this reason, as it is unfair to other players, there has to be a reasonable median zoom that the player is forced to place within. On league of legends, you can zoom in how-ever since that offers no advantage to you rather then a disadvantage. __________ As for zooming out in this game, it would be considered too powerful for a number of reasons. More time to dodge Super Sniper Goat Shaman that shoot you from waaaayyy over there. and More awareness of player movements in cut-throat, and it'll just turn into a zooming war to out-range each other.... Hence why zoom is locked. | |
Lots of threads on this, I'd encourage you to do some searching on this topic before starting a new thread on it. The developers have provided lots of feedback on this.

" This is a complete non-argument. You can play the game right now on different resolutions and the FOV is the same. If scalable zoom were to be added, a player at high resolution with max zoom would have the same FOV as someone on a low resolution. the two things have nothing to do with each other. Yes thats the idea... but its still limited, not free zoom.
FoV only changes relative to Aspect ratio, which is to prevent obvious stretching. 4:3 16:9 16:10 Though if Eyefinity/Surround is supported which I'm not sure since I don't have that setup anymore, that would greatly increase the native aspect ratio, which actually worked in LoL believe it or not. But there is no FoV increase. Point being everyone is pretty much on a fair playing field, not having to choose between having more advantage being zoomed way out till your character is a spec, and actually being zoomed in enough to see how pantless your character is! Best Zoom your gonna get is going for 16:10 resolutions but thats it... Now stop complaining about pointless things. Next. |
