Since Vulkan was added, DirectX has been awful for me and Vulkan is even worse
I've had zero issues with lag, FPS, spikes, etc since the league start. I've been running relatively juiced maps with alva, scarabs, sextants, syndicate, delirium orbs etc and only have issues in the craziest of packs. Since Vulkan was released while using DirectX11 I'm getting lag spikes, stutters, and freezes on basic syndicate encounters, hitting the delirium mirror, and just encountering big packs(shrines or conqueror packs especially).
I tried Vulkan and that had its own multitude of issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IqKFwE5qmc I'm not really sure if I should try to change settings or what. I didn't intend on using Vulkan when it came out because my game has been very smooth but since its addition it has gotten significantly worse. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Yes me too. Except mine crashes whenever I try to set it to Vulkan. And I've already installed the latest (May 2020) drivers of my manufacturer's version of the Intel graphics drivers. Delirium is unplayable in DirectX now; my character is 89 and trying to get to 90 is essentially impossible with continuous lag deaths.

I'm seeing the same performance degradation with DX11 after switching back from Vulkan.
Over the last few days I've been trying different settings to make Vulkan work smoothly, unfortunately, I can't get rid of the stutter and some other odd 'rippling' effects, so I decided to switch back to DX11. For some reason, it's a lot worse than it was prior to trying Vulkan. I've reinstalled the game and restarted the system. I also reinstalled the GPU drivers, none of these helped. For some reason, playing with DX11 is a lot worse than it was... Caveat: My system is old but the GPU (HD7870Ghz) does support Vulkan. However, because of the age of the hardware I don't have high expectations for performance. However, it wasn't this bad before. " Try deleting the shader cache files and then rebuild them over a few maps. I have a very similar setup - 8350 black, r9 290, 16 gig ram, SSD, same vid drivers. After a few few times in and out of my hideout and a few shitty (read; spikey as all hell) maps while the shaders were rebuilt, everything has been running fine for me. See if that helps out. Vulkan and DX11. I can run either, but have been playing mostly on Vulkan since it bcecame available. Still trying to determine which i prefer.
Vulkan seems a bit more evened out FPS wise, although DX11 seems to run smoother overall but is prone to more "FPS spikes" as it were. " Thanks for that. I've reset the shader cache and playing with DX11 at the moment. I'll see how that goes. I think I'll wait before trying Vulkan again. |

Let me know how it goes please, I'll probably do it too. As of now I'm scared to map in HC because my game freezes even with DirectX on. It's really bad and like I said it's something I have never experienced at least not in recent times.

On directX per usual and I just did a legion and my game froze for 7 seconds. Usually I get a 0.5-1s lag spike but this is getting really bad

" For the "rippling effect", POE's VSync option is not working for vulkan. You need to enable vsync in your driver control panel. And perhaps this problem also has some impact on dx11's vsync ? Last edited by MrVaad#4008 on May 31, 2020, 5:43:07 AM
