Since Vulkan was added, DirectX has been awful for me and Vulkan is even worse

I've spent more of less the entire day trying to get back to where I can play without everything coming to a standstill and freezing every few seconds.

I decided to give Vulkan another try but even though I was able to partially eliminate some of the issues I mentioned above, I still can't make the game playable. The same now goes for DX11.

I'm really frustrated.

Kellog,

I have searched (and searched and searched) for anything that may be of use. I have come up with Nada :(. The ONLY thing that I can think of at this point to try would be to uninstall vid drivers and DX, reboot, clean install vid drivers and DX then delete the shader cache again.

Wish I could help more bud. Other than Vulkan being "blurry/grainy" for me, I really haven't had any issues with a rig almost on par with yours. I am stumped.

I really appreciate you're trying to help. However, I suspect there's something else at play here. GGG also mentioned in their announcement today, that fixes for Vulkan were coming...

I removed and reinstalled the drivers with DDU and cleared the cache, again. It is better, I just have to refrain from doing some types of content, especially on my summoner. (specters seem to make things worse)

On the bright side, between now and end of July I'll be upgrading the PC with more modern hardware. Just have to hope that does the job.
For what it's worth, after much trial and error, I managed to get Vulkan working quite well.

I don't like giving up on things if I can see no clear reason why something isn't working, so I've spent the last day or so making changes, reinstalling and testing.

What I now have is the following:

PoE settings:

1. Windows Full Screen
2. Vulkan - On
3. Vsync - Off
4. Foreground FPS Cap - 60 (Enabled)
5. Background FPS Cap - 30 (Enabled)
6. Most other settings set to Low
7. Dynamic Resolution - On

Radeon Software Settings:

1. Radeon Anti-Lag - On
2. Radeon Enhanced Sync - On
3. Wait for Vertical Refresh - Always On.
4. OpenGL Triple Buffering - On
5. Everything else is at default.

I cleared the AMD cache and the DX cache in the GGG Program folder folder. I also started with a fresh 'production_config.ini'

After rebooting and playing for an ~hour it seems pretty stable. I still have a slight intermittent freezes but they don't have a major impact on game play.
