Isn't PoE's Steam description false advertisement?

To me you are a kind whos mad about getting his toy "broken".
Imagine playing build that triviliaze all content in the game and being suprised it got nerfed. But hey, I can give you a credit for actually stopping playing. There are plenty of people on this Forum who bitch on this game for years yet they are still playing every league. Last edited by Aynix#7757 on Apr 25, 2020, 6:21:32 PM

" It isn't. Gameplay itself is free. The "game" contains paid components and therefore cannot be called "completely free". It is free to play, with predatory money systems in place, but anything in the "game" such as MTX and armor skins, that cost money, means the "game" isn't completely free. |

Some real /r/ChoosingBeggars shit here.
If someone offered ya'll free money, you'd complain about having to pay taxes on it. |
" The game IS completly free. |
only stash tabs are pay to win and they could add stash tabs as challenge rewards or for ingame achievements but then it would be a free game lollll
" No, it isn't, and your stubbornness and mine isn't contributing to this discussion, so instead I'll ask you a question. If MTX such as weapon skins, portal effects and the like are displayed in the game for everyone to see, are they or aren't they part of the game? |
" Look, I agree with you; there is a clear distinction between "free" and "free-to-play", and that PoE falls in the latter category. But calling PoE's monetization model "predatory" is stretching it, when we know the real examples out there. Calling it predatory also trivializes the players ability to critical thinking and the ability to make choice. "Oh no, GGG are developing the game in such a way that it's encouraging me to spend money. HOW DARE THEY!" Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" MTX are just cosmetics. THey are not necessary to play by any means. This game is competly free and no matter how much you will argue that "you NEED to pay for cosmetics (no one is forcing you to buy them btw)", it wont change anything. |
" I agree nobody is forcing anyone to buy cosmetics. We disagree on whether stash tabs are forced but that's not the topic at hand. Do you, yes or no, think that MTX such as armor skins and weapon/portal effects, that you show off to other players, are considered part of the game? Your answer to this question is why you fail to see the distinction between "completely free" and "free to play", which is what the thread is about. |
" I call it predatory for two reasons: One, the game is pushing you to spend money, it's not simply qol at this point but if you intend to play the game, trade with other players, run multiple builds, and reach end game in the atlas you need a public-enabled tab and a map tab bare minimum, not to mention all the currency, fragments, high value essences, etc that drop. And two, with all the RNG and gambling that this game's loot and crafting systems entail, you can't reliably craft your own gear without at least a currency tab to hold all the orbs you have to farm/trade for to do crafting for your own gear. |
