Why is Global Chat so toxic? Psychology question.

Vulgarities, racism, looking down, anger, scam, spam donate, poe sucks.
Are these what humans are really are?
When you do not have moderators like other mmorpgs, humans starts to reveal their true self?
But, what is the point, what do they get out of this?

Before you discuss about this, I am going to transfer some key words for you in order to formulate your own answer.

It is because GGG don't give a shit about this problem. All you can see in chat is "jokes" about mothers, fathers, gays etc. As long GGG won't ban this ppl the community will be worse. I know that GGCent cares only for MTX but is it possible for some chat moderators???

This is why countries/societies form a gouvernment with laws, rules and regulations. With a certain number of people being at the same place or doing the same thing you will always have toxic people around. Just go to a party or a club/bar, as soon as the alcohol flows a lot of people forget how to behave.

With games and this is a problem for every online/multiplayer game, people feel safe to be 'loud', racist, sexist or whatever because they are anonymous and don't fear any serious repercussions.

I would argue that most of these people, at least online, are relatively young. This is the unfortunate part of growing up. Saying or doing stupid stuff because we thought it would be funny or it would make us cool and respected. But since there is no 'internet police' people get away with almost anything online.

And than there are grown ups who still behave that way. Those people and again there are way to many of them in probably most countries are uneducated and/or unhappy and unsatisfied in their life. They have deeply rooted anger and hate issues and can't even respect themselves.

So I think it's a mixture of the thrill of saying/writing outragous stuff and than seeing people getting offended by it and reacting.

And the lack of education and decency of people who are essentially 'losers' themselves.

To make it short, yes that's how humanity is. Just check the last 6000 years of human history and see how much of this (and much worse stuff) you can find there. Will be plenty.

You talk about poe global chat as if every single chat in every single channel/game/page in the world wasn't like that.
It's easy to say anything anonymously, that's why.

well i got muted twice so far in global...
- i provide a service in global 820 where i asked for a fee to join my sextants map ( was around perandus or so ) which was quite common back then

- showing vaal results for like sirus gloves and gems and other 6l was bored...



- all i see in global are often can you pc... respnse is 25ex most of the time

It's just a matter of perspective.
Often people in poe globals are to far apart in both builds and thinking for themselves.

Let's say Theres 1500 in one global, and someone ask about an item, that isn't meta. 5 persons knows how good this is for a build, 1000 doesn't care and 495 are only thinking about meta.

You will get 495 answers thst the item are bad and 5 that it is good. Primarily negative feedback due to ignorance/less experience with this particular build.

Global changes every single league, because newer players often seek into these to get some sort of feeling a multi-player game in a that are mostly solo.

As they increase in experience, they will often seek elsewhere for communication. Guilds, special globals, voice chats etc.
