After few days of testing I finally reduced at least half of FPS drops on my prehistoric PC:

No more 0 fps when going through "mirror".
Running it now on Pop!_OS by System76 but it helped on Windows 10 x64 too.

Important: change for Predictive networking mode first to test if your FPS drop is not network related

Try with these game launch options(instructions here:https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Launch_options):

"
--noasync --nologo --nodx9ex -gc 2

The real game changer is "--noasync" command. You can also test with "-gc 1". Other commands are optional.
To check if the commands work properly just enter the town and see if everything was loaded instantly. If you see black textures, you did something wrong.

Instructions for Linux:

Standalone version through newest Lutris w/ DXVK runner.
In system settings:
DXVK_USE_PLACEHOLDER_SHADERS 1
DXVK_USE_PIPECOMPILER 1
DXVK_ASYNC 1

Hopefully it will help you a little.

Do you put a space directly behind the path in the target box in the shortcut options of the client.exe? LIke this C:/Path --noasync --nologo --nodx9ex -gc 2
Have to play with --nosound AND -gc 2

Still lagging and avoiding the league mechanic. This is getting ridiculous, everything was fine during the metamorph.

Space is required.

"
your_path\PathOfExile_x64.exe --noasync --nologo --waitforpreload -gc 2

No idea if it works with client.exe. I suffered extremely low fps when running through it.

Tested this out and still experiencing unplayable FPS drops. Sucks. Everything was perfect before the patch.
start of this leage just on the character screen alone it sounded like my GPU was about to take off...
every ingame setting was set to high or ultra
something is teribly wrong with this new patch
i wont play the high more stable setting because its like running a non-stop benchmark on my GPU and on the low setting it is completely unplayable with even worse fps and freezing going on
the way the setting work right now is completely backwards

!! PLEASE FIX !!

A lot of people are having the same issues as well, I have seen it at many streamers also, the game simply strangles the hardware as if this was some ultra detailed game from the year 2030 that you are trying to play on current hardware.

How did such a huge performance impact escape the eyes of so many departments, department heads, management teams and so on. Did they not brag that they were ahead of schedule with the release? Maybe they should have tested the league first.
Three leagues now. I think my job here is done.
gtx 2060, i5 9600k, 16gb ram, ssd. Same problem. When i enter delirium and fight 200 mobs around me, it laggs as fck. Only laggs inside delirium and if there is open area with alot of mobs.
Did GGG rly not care about the performance ??
I mean .. every league the same .. stuttering.. fps drops.. latency issues.

@GGG : Pls tell us if you are not able to fix this
