If Lootboxes get banned in US, what's an alternative?
Just to clarify, this isnt a discussion to smear GGG.
Since more countries are banning and regulating Lootboxes as gambling (Payouts or not), I would like to hear suggestions as to what GGG could or should do, as an alternative for here in the United States. I have small suggestions, but it's off the top of my head. Have it so players can earn premium currency in some way, from say a "Once a day" mission. Or, say a Prophecy that lets you trade in a full set of Item Level 100 pieces, for maybe 10 premium currency. Again, just off the top of my head. I mean, its only a matter of time before Lootboxes are eventually banned here in the US. May not be this year or the next year, but eventually in the future. GGG should best be prepared and think about this, at the very least. I really like how Warframe handles their currencies and MTX's, and maybe GGG can take them as a good example? I'm thoroughly confident that only loot boxes that require real-money purchase would be prohibited by law. GGG would no longer be able to offer Mystery Boxes to US customers, but that would be about it.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

" I could absolutely be wrong, but I think most of their MTX money comes from the boxes. Since there are chances for getting expensive stuff for really low costs. Last edited by raysuko#6658 on Mar 7, 2020, 2:48:04 PM

Maybe GGG (and other devs for that matter) will outright abandon lootboxes and just sell their contents like normal.
Or they make ethical lootboxes, where you earn them through playing the game and no other way. That'd be nice. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

" Agreed. Its like how Elder Scrolls Online lets you get their lootboxes from Daily Logins and such. Last edited by raysuko#6658 on Mar 7, 2020, 2:49:37 PM

Once lootboxes get banned, GGG will have to do the right thing and remove them as they are.
They can still sell stash tabs and cosmetics the non-gambling way. Just like they did before those boxes got introduced. There is also no problem giving out lootboxes as non-paid-rewards (for completing challenges/playing on special days etc.). | |
Why should GGG do something specifically about the US ?
Why should ANYBODY do anything specifically about the US regarding such things ? SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

Well, then they can create a new thing, let`s call it "surprise balloon", it`s an item that you buy and when you pop it, it gives you a surprise, it might be a hideout decoration or an Mtx, who knows. Last edited by Mortyx#1049 on Mar 8, 2020, 11:34:04 AM

I don't even understand why people call it lootbox in PoE. It's cosmetics for crying out loud. There is no game advantage in any of these boxes. The problem in general with lootboxes is that people are forced to buy them to stay relevant in games. Somehow people managed to include cosmetic boxes that offer nothing but a different look.

Warframe is also listening to their players and communicating with them. So, this game lack both.
