Gearing
(see my actual gear in Expensive L90 & Solo Self Found L90 versions)

There are NO MANDATORY items. Gear just covers Resistances, provides Evasion and makes us fast. You can replace any item(s) with others, as you see fit. I would recommend staying with Evasion bases or your defense may suffer.

6L Frost Blades (Mapping) ~

For Cheap Version, run 5L removing Hypothermia/Ice Bite.

Herald of Ice ~
I was unlucky with chromatics in SSF & couldn't get colours for 4L CWDT, so I ran:
Herald of Ice + Curse on Hit + Frostbite

CDWT + Storm Brand + Curse on Hit + Frostbite

But ideally, I would have got the CWDT + SB + CoH + FB set up and stopped using the Herald of Ice set up.

How to Level (aka to maps in 346 easy steps):

What to expect
Spoiler

It is completely fine to update/change any part of this to suit your preferences.
If you find leveling difficult, I have some general tips after the guide.

My normal leveling process is somewhere slightly above average in terms of timing, this
is much slower than Racer speeds of a few hours to maps.

After my first character, I tend to skip most of the storyline, then run back through the
early skipped content at level 70, because I will be much faster then.

I also level up to 70 at Blood Aqueducts because it is easy and fast, it's just preference
you can move on much earlier if you prefer.

I tend to use an approach of run, attack, run, attack, in 2 second(ish) intervals,
if there are monsters around, or just run otherwise. I don't full clear areas, I run as
directly as I can to the next requirement. I don't worry about upgrades if I am killing
trash in 1-3 shots (just preference). I pause along the way to kill blue packs (good xp).
I try to stay within 3-4 levels (below) the current zone.

If I haven't said to go somewhere, or do something, that's because I don't - with 2
exceptions below...

NB. I click on all Way Points.
NB. I complete all Labyrinth Trials with my first character.

Main Skill Final: 6L Frost Blades (Mapping) ~
Frost Blade - Elemental Damage with Attacks - Added Cold Damage - Hypothermia - Ancestral Call - Ice Bite

3L Vaal Ancestral Warchief ~
Vaal Ancestral Warchief - Multiple Totems - Culling Strike
ignore the Added Fire Damage in item below SSF btw

Herald of Ice
I addded Curse on Hit here, because I couldn't get the colours I wanted for CWDT above.

Weap 1: 3L Vigilant Strike ~
Vigilant Strike - Ancestral Call - Increased Duration

Weap 2: 3L CWDT ~
Cast When Damage Taken (L5) - Steelskin (L12) - Summon Flame Golem (L7)

Movement Skill ~
Dash - Second Wind
Auras (Mapping) ~
Precision
Hatred

4L CWDT ~
Cast When Damage Taken (L1) - Stormbrand (L1) - Curse on Hit (Max) - Frostbite (Max)
I would have run this, but was quite unlucky with Chromatics and couldn't get the colours.

Weap 3 (swap): Auras (Dark Running) ~
Vaal Haste - Vaal Grace - Enlighten
SSF, didn't drop an Enlighten, so just ran Grace on it's own

Weap 4 (swap): Phase Run (Dark Running) ~
Phase Run - Increased Duration - Second Wind

Notes:

Elemental Focus is pretty good damage and you may like to use this on Bosses if
you have a Tabula. But freezing things feels pretty good otherwise.

Hypothermia and Ice Bite could be swapped out to try how you like other things, such as;
* Melee Physical Damage
* Cold Penetration
* Cold to Fire
I just liked the feel of Hypothermia and Ice Bite, so I went with them.

Ancestral Call could be swapped out for more damage, but it makes mapping feel amazing. For more damage,
you could do a GEM swap with Meee Physical Damage for Bosses.

Once Dark Running, you could also use the old Cyclone setup for Life Gain, though
Frost Blades worked fine for me. Cyclone - Faster Attacks - Fortify

For mapping, you can also try out Assassin's Mark and Poacher's Mark.

You can also swap the Curse on Hit setup with;
Cast When Damage Taken (L1) - Storm Brand (L1) - Curse on Hit (Max) - Frostbite (Max)
I would have run this, but was quite unlucky with Chromatics and couldn't get the colours.

Leveling at Blood Aqueducts
Spoiler

At this point I pause to level at Blood Aqueducts.
I do this because it has nice monster density and is very easy to run (straight line),
these 2 things make it a very quick way to gain xp very easily.
Then at 70 I can pretty much just run to the end of the game. Sometimes I choose not
to do this and I just continue through the game normally.

How to Level at Blood Aqueducts (BA):
The first thing to know is that you can create 'new instances' of zones/areas. This means
once you have run through and killed all the enemies in the BA, you can create a new
instance immediately, then run back through again and kill all the creatures again without
waiting! Yay!

To create a new instance, hold CTRL when you click on the entrance to the area, or
on the WP location when using a WP. So to rerun the BA over and over, we will run from
Highgate to the portal at the begining of BA. Then we click on the WP, hold CTRL then
Click on the WP at the begining of BA, an 'Instance Manager' window will pop up, Click New.
We are now in a new instance, choca with enenmies to kill. When we get to the Highgate
end, we hold CTRL then Click on the BA entrance we just came out of, and use the Instance
Manager window to Click New. This is the fastest way to run back and forth along BA.

When running my preference is to stick to the East Side of the BA as much as possible,
this typically has the best density for monsters. I don't clear both sides, because it
is quicker just to load another instance. I also don't run down the side passages, I just
run straight, this is because it is just easier. Some people like to do the side passages
becasue at the ends there are Magic/Blue packs, that give juicey xp.

If you die, it is normally faster to create a new instance than to run back through the
empty area where you have already killed.

Complete Labrynth
Spoiler

(I can't remember when I did the first Labyrinth)
* Natures Adrenaline (Movement Speed)

Level 70: Completed Cruel Labyrinth
* Natures Boon (Gain Flask Charges & Chance not to use Charges)

Level 70: Completed Merciless Labyrinth
* Master Alchemist

Level 90: Completed Eternal/Uber Labyrinth
* Veteran Bowyer

For Eternal I use poelab.com map to go through quickly and pick up Dark Shrines if they
are on the main path.

It took a long time for me to find all the Trials in Maps, then I died in Eternal to a sword sweep,
so I waited until the next day which was a Mace day. It went smoothly.

ORIATH
Spoiler

At Oriath Kirac will give you a few quests to run before you get your Atlas Device.
I have not added these in as an update yet, I am hoping they get removed.

The first quest is Oriath North, click on the broken Map Device and wait for him to appear.

The second quest is Oriath East, find a side Office with a clickable desk.

The third quest is Oriath West, open doors and run to the end of the hall.

You are at maps now, check your gear and get your resistances to 75% each.
Chaos resistance is great, but not a priority.

NB.
Clearing maps with Frost Blades feels great and goes pretty quicky.
But Rares and Bosses feel pretty bad.

I went to Red maps without issues, but Rares, Bosses and Conquerers at Reds started to
feel really grindy. I could take them down, but fights went on for a while.

If League Starting with this, I would recommend getting into Dark Farming ASAP, then
use the currency to make a different character for completing your ATLAS. But this will
get you through Yellows, your first few Conquerers and to L90 pretty easily.

Pantheon
Spoiler

These actually make a BIG difference for this build:
Minor God: Soul of Ryslatha - Both abilities are absolutely amazing for this build.
Major God: Soul of Lunaris - mostly for speed, but everything is good for Dark.

Things I did you may want to change
Spoiler

Turn in quests more regularly to get the skill points earlier.

Assign Patheon points as you progress through the game.

Complete all skill point quests as you level, instead of at L70.

Complete Labyrinths earlier (for Ascendancy Points, not the trials).

Skip leveling to 70 in Blood Aqueducts to get to maps more quickly.

Tips if you find leveling difficult
Spoiler

First off, if you are playing Hardcore the leveling should be difficult and this guide is not
for you.

Second, if you are playing Softcore, don't stress so much about dying. It is a game
mechanism made for you to take advantage of - so do that.

If you are dying a lot (say 4 or more times in a zone or on a single boss) and you are not
really doing it on purpose as a strategy:

* Check your life flasks are up to date for your level
(watch your health refill when using a flask, if it's slow, you probably need new flasks)
(NPC in town will be selling appropriate level flask for the zone)
(either buy them from NPC or keep an eye out for those ones to pick up)
(you can trade 3 of the same flask type to an NPC for 1 back of the next level up)

* Try to keep moving a little more
(try to stop as briefly as possible, monsters can easily miss hits on you if you move)
(if you need to kill a boss or big mob, try cirling around it continuously)

* Try not to backtrack
(things explode a lot in the game, if you run back into a spot you just left, you can
very easily get hit by running back into an explosion or hit)

* Try not to run over things on the ground
(keep an eye out for things on the ground, bodies or symbols or colours, things explode
a lot in this game, if you run over something you can very easily get hit or exploded)

* Try to have your movement skill available for key moments
(if you are fighting a boss, try to save your movement skill until that moment you go
ARGH?! Then use it to get out of that spot. If you always use it as soon as it is
ready, you are being movement efficient, but can easily get stuck in a bad spot)

* Try to utilise your movement skill defensively
(if you are running through a zone, you can wait until packs surround you, then
movement skill through the pack tojust outside the back of the pack which allows
you to continue running as if you had phasing. Over time this can become a very
smooth feeling way to run, for very little speed sacrifice)

* Check your resistances
(resistances soak up a lot of damage, if you don't have them sorted it can feel like
you are constantly being one shot)
(default resistance caps are 75%)
(while leveling 75% isn't essential in SC, but the closer too, the better it will feel)

* Try to stay clam
(panic makes it easy to do something stupid, being clam helps you react well)

* Check your damage output
(the longer it takes you to kill things, the longer they have to try and kill you)
(try to get a feel for how many shots it is taking you to kill general trash mobs,
1 shot is good/the target, 2 shots is ok, 3 shots is a little slow, anything more than
3 should raise concern and it might be time to upgrade your gear or get more
damage in your skill tree)6

* Try using some additional flask types
(you can try using a jade or granite flask, timed while close to enemies for extra
defence)
(you can try using a phasing flask to allow you to run out of packs when you
get surrounded)
(you can try getting Resistances from a flask if you are low)

* Check your current level and compare it to the level of the zone
(you can use TAB key to bring up centre screen map, level top right corner)
(if more than 4 levels below the zone, trying killing more in each zone)
(if you die a lot being below zone level, try to zill enough to stay at the same
level as the zones you are in)
(you can also try over leveling if you are really struggling, but it can slow down
your xp gain if you get more than 4 levels higher than the zone)
(over time you will find the spot that works best for you and improve on it)

* Try adding Life Gain on Hit into your gem set up for Main Skill.

* Try following a different leveling guide, then use Regrets to switch back to this
build after you get to the level you want to Dark Farm at.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I respawn Chests?
"Dark Running" is different to "Delving". When you Dark Run, you do NOT blow up walls. If you blow up a wall, then all the Chests and all the walls along that path (from start node to end node) will not respawn.

Why no Cluster Jewels?
I did extensive Cluster Jewel testing and they are not needed. They are a different way of reaching the same outcome, but increase the build cost.

How does it work?
We combine different things:
* Flask Effect and Duration scaling to sustain life
* Movement speed scaling to be fast (and help avoid hits)
* 'Nature's Boon' and Craft for 'chance to not consume flask charges'
* 'Nature's Boon' and 'Soul of Ryslatha' for free flask charges
* Throwing flares to remove darkness stacks
* Evasion scaling to avoid hits (and increase speed through QotF)
* Some Dodge for further defense
* Frost Blades & Claw Life Gain on Hit for further life gain (QoL)
* Optional: Cyclone, Fortify & Thief's torment for further life gain (QoL)

Why use it?
To get fossils for crafting. Or to make currency with low initial investment and zero sustain cost once going.

Make how much currency?
Depends how you farm and sell & the time of league and Delve fossil appearance rates. The easy generic figure is 200+ chaos per hour and I would expect people that are extremely efficient to make 500+ chaos per hour. You can get more detail, including how to maximize profit, in my YouTube video: https://youtu.be/TJ0jUU1mpRc

3.11 Patch Example Spreadsheet - L90:
Google Drive Spreadsheet
This is with a Solo Self Found build - I would expect more from a Trade build

3.10 Patch Example Spreadsheet - L88:
Google Drive Spreadsheet

Won't this get nerfed?
Maybe. I have used this build since Delve so far. Given we are not really 'abusing' anything, without a significant flask, ascendancy and/or tree overhaul, it will just keep working. This really is quite a straight forward flask build, just aimed at Delve - there are not actually any mandatory items, just ones that work better than others (e.g. QotF).

* Added Date Format explanation in Change Log above.

26/06/2020:

12/03/2020:
* Although it does not affect the build, 3.10 path notes include changes to affixes available via Fossils, expect this to have an impact on the Chaos per Hour generated. As to how much impact, only time and the market will tell.
* Somehow in all the excitement, I forgot to show the Flasks we use in this Flask build, added Flasks. >.<

11/03/2020:
* Added spoiler with Alternative Item options.
* Added alternative items to the Large Images section.

Patch 3.9 Retired Information:
!Disclaimer!
When doing the 3.10 spreadsheet update I noticed I may have doubled up on some figures in the 3.9 spreadsheet. I re-looked and think they might be out by roughly 60c. This would make them closer to 3.10 figures, but still higher.

Dude.....3.10 patch note not even live. You claim "no update required"????

That's because there are no mandatory uniques and in terms of passives, all we do is pick up 'Flask Effect' nodes, which the build could also live without.

It's a stupidly simple build, that relies almost entirely on the Pathfinder Ascendancy. Have no fear, I will check the patch notes and if the Pathfinder Ascendancy is changed completely away from Flasks, I can amend that note to 'Build Nerfed'. edit: Also a complete Flask rework could also break it.

You can use just one if you like.

I use the 3 link when in the Dark (Cyclone - Fortify - Faster Attacks), because it has a slightly cheaper mana cost.

Then I use the other 'full blown' 5L/6L Cyclone for when I need to do damage and am resetting my camera (to stack poisons for Herald of Agony).
How was the scourge arrow leveling? Thinking about starting up this build and I've always wanted to try scourge arrow.

I League Started Scourge Arrow poison. Solo gearing was fine, and it was very fun to play. It was quite squishy, so there were deaths. It felt very powerful, until I hit Red maps but I'm fairly certain that's because I didn't want to invest in a bow. I think with a decent bow, it should clean up well/easily. I think Darkscorn would be the ideal choice.

There were 2 deterrents for me:
* I want to have a super cheap version (so no to bow investment).
* The play style of Scourge Arrow channeling is sore on my hands because I play a lot.

So I ended up with an alternative that fixes both these issues and gives this build a heavy amount of damage, that you can keep even when switching into Dark Running. It feels good, it is easier to play, and it's cheap.

I will be updating the Build Guide in the coming days with more detail, but it's basically Cyclone + 2x Bino's Kitchen Knife.

EDIT: I am also working on getting updated spreadsheet data for this league.
