Divine orb is trash.

Wrong.
You are talking about creating THE PERFECT WEAPON. A weapon that never will exist and never should exist. A good weapon doesn't need to have 6 perfect mods.

Even if you decide to go for a low budget version of a weapon, getting only 3 perfect mods on an item still uses up far more alterations than regals and exalteds.
The bottleneck is alterations, not regals or exalteds, EVEN if you aim for a 3 perfect mod weapon.

I can tell from the way you post you didnt craft extensively yet, yet you make a condescending post towards the thread creator.
Also in reality you will use more than 1000-5000 alterations to get the two perfect mods.

The bottleneck decides the value of an orb, not their rarity.

For every 100-200 alterations, 1 regal drops, while you need to use 1000-5000 alterations to actually create an item that is eligible for a regal.
That means you pile up regals that you wont ever need to use.
Same rule applies to exalteds.

That is the bottleneck i am talking about.

1000-5000 now?
The post before it was 400-500

As i mentioned before it is not about perfect anyway. You don't need perfect mods neither will you get perfect mods.
You will regal good mods.

Didnt i specifically say there that it is most probably more than 400-500?
We got a decent double mod after 400-500, thats why i used that as a starting point, considering how we didnt get anything useful afterwards for over 1000 alterations now, i specifically added "most probably more than that", considering how our decent double mod is also far from perfect.

If it isnt about perfect, then the orbs are useless anyways, because unless you roll something you need, you can immediately trash the item anyways, since it loses its value when you roll crap on it and thus take away the possibility of rolling something useful on it.

If you use such rare orbs on casual items because you dont want to create something perfect from the get go, thats a testament to how replacable and worthless these orbs are.

After regaling "good" double mods for a few hundred times, you will come to the conclusion that even if you roll the perfect mod with that regal, you still have an inferior item compared to a PERFECT double mod item that you could have created with alterations, and thus in essence have wasted time and resources.

You are essentially saying that you will finde more regal orbs than scouring orbs and items of the base type together?
You can't be serious.
Oh wait you are probably wasting your alchemy orbs on those items, aren't you?

Orbs are worthless compared to realy good items, but that's something we do not have to discuss. It's a well known fact.

We aren't discussing right now if orbs in general are worthless, we are discussing why your statement:
"

The only thing that is worth anything is the mirror, orb of chaos/alch/alterations/scouring, 6 linked items, and valuable mods on items.
Also gems with quality and gemcutter prisms.
The other orbs are rare, but that doesnt make them worth more.

is wrong.
Regal/Exalted/Divine>>>Chaos>>Alch

As is said PoE isn'T about getting the perfect weapon. You may dream about the perfect weapon but you will never get one. It's about steadily increasing the quality of your gear.

No.
Using my method i would have several good items AND a PERFECT double mod item. There is no reason why i can'T spend as much alteration orbs as you do, thus getting the same base items you got.

Sad face orb made a butthole nerd sad, what a coincidence.

-Troll mode off

Sry couldn't stop myself espiecally when I see him raping newbies in game with his ratios and OP trades.

Divine is orb made to reroll perfect mod item to perfect stats on mods under their tiers. Expensive and unrewarding, but it's orb designed for end game polishment to godly items. Perfect items may drop in once per 10 year with divines you can cut that to one year. Not a bad deal for nerds :)

Just because you don't understand how crafting works in this game doesn't make divines worthless.

Slightly off topic here, but I don't understand crafting, and was wondering where I could learn more. More specifically is it possible to upgrade and craft all of the currency items?

There's an excellent thread in General Discussion that has all of the 'vendor recipes'.

In addition, the wand/flask/jewelry NPCs in each act offer various orb graduations (such as 4 chance -> scour, or 2 scour -> regret).

Not all orbs are obtainable via NPC and must be dropped. Divines are an example of such an orb. (Note: I think a mirror sells to the shop for something like '3 divine, 5 exalt, 8 bless'. Don't actually sell a mirror to an NPC please.)
