Pick : 100% Rarity or 30% Quantity

The dimished returns are quite negligible anyway.
If your on a map thats close to your level (or doing maps) you'll want IIQ > IIR pretty much always. more currency, more 6 socket drops, more chances for 5/6L gear etc. If your farming for a specific unique, IIR all the way pretty much. That normally means your at a much lower level to the drop penalty on currency is huge, so IIQ doesnt help as much. If for some reason your gear choice gives more IIQ than IIR (which is rare) then take the quantity other wise IIR. Take both wherever possible. |

Dwight : False, I was running 4 clients before yesterday with close to 400 rarity, 2andv + wondertrap.
And that's another reason I've brought up this thread, I just wanna know how to maximum my time/profit when playing this game. Since I can no longer multiboxing efficiently . In my case it's 100IIR and 30IIQ. After the discussion now I've known that IIR has diminishing returns, and IIR IIQ have their pros and cons. FYI, according to my game experience, I find 30% more quantity makes boss drop less rares and with 2-3 whites; with 100% more rarity it gives more rares and most of the time no whites. Base equals to <127IIQ or + 30goldwyrm> <217IIR + or + 100wondertrap > " Last edited by minimalistjason#6304 on Mar 20, 2013, 11:26:48 PM

One thing this thread is making clear: IIQ and IIR are very poorly documented, especially given the number of times their behavior has been adjusted in patch notes. The Mechanics thread doesn't mention diminishing returns, and the wiki doesn't even have an article for IIQ and/or IIR (although it does have articles for the support gems, those articles don't explain the mechanics themselves in any detail).
To figure out how map drop rates work, your only real option is to re-read every patch since maps were introduced. They've made numerous changes to how IIQ interacts with map drops in general, map drops in maps, map drop level scaling in maps... They act differently from basically all other drops and I have basically given up trying to keep track of it. There have been 20 separate patch notes just since OB launch, 2 months ago. I read every one at some point, but re-reading them all every time I want to reconstruct how drop rates work is getting a little silly. 51 more CB patch notes since maps were introduced in 0.9.11. That's 51 patches that OB players have never had any reason to read. I guess what I'm saying is, one of you people who says this is all obvious, common knowledge stuff... Please take a few minutes out of your busy day to write a wiki article that documents this shit. It's not as obvious as you think, and "read the patch notes" is an increasingly absurd way to answer what should be straightforward questions. FWIW, I can't find *any* documentation of the diminishing returns formula. It's possible GGG doesn't want us to know exactly how much IIR/IIQ it's efficient to stack, but just to leave us with the general knowledge that "if you have a lot already, you should kinda sorta start to feel like it's not worth stacking more." Actually you don't, After Chris said players are not playing maps hard enough, plenty objections posted against it, 90+ quantity in 70+map mod and gives you a vacation to tropical island.

I prefer IIR over IIQ. I think the reasoning for that is fairly obvious and I am amazed how much ignorance and false information is around here. I won't explain why I prefer IIR, I think it is crucial to have the correct mixture of both. But I have noticed that those that figured the right stuff out don't post their patch notes but rather their gear in search for even more upgrades. They all focus on IIR and get as much IIQ as possible.

Very much prefer IIR over IIQ, mainly because the IIQ you get from maps and parties.

The exact perfect formula for maximizing your iiq and iir is:
iiq+(#_Of_Additional_Players_Nearby*50) = iir*Diminishing_Return_Factor I am unaware of what the exact diminishing_return_factor is. Anyone else know? For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

" Well I guess that is the big question. None of the devs gave us some real numbers :( GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" ^this also i think like 100 quantity and 150 rarity is ideal above 150 rarity the drops don't seem any better for me, and under 100 quantity the reduced drop rate really starts to become noticeable IGN: Turkey_turds, Lootsplosion_LvNINTHOUS, Who_Needs_pants_
