Drox fight is fucking [Removed by Support] "quite not very good"

3 out of 5 were spot on, not sure why Drox and Sirius are so fucking bad compared to others Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. Still takes forever to kill.
Not to mention he has WAY worse telegraphed attacks and whole fight is just a mess of random things going on. His phrases mean nothing, you don't really pay attention to what he is saying. Other fights do it right on so many levels. Telegraph, tempo, limited area and so on. They also don't drag on forever for no good reason. I personally feel like these two (Sirius and Drox) were designed by one person, and other three by the other. Sirius seems to share this random "area here bad no go" and pointless long invu phases. possible, i only fought drox and some other guy before i dropped off for holiday before christmas.
excited to try the sirus fight in january. it's kindof bad that i now watch all the fights to learn them beforehand but so many things are counter intuitive in poe (probably in their desire to be funny or different or both), it's just a waste of time not to do it and learn all those boss fights the hard way. the thing that changed it, has been the elder explosion: who would have guessed you can avoid it by running into the center of the explosion? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Agreed. The concept of the fight is great, the implementation is not so great. Sometimes all of a sudden you get hit for a shitton of damage and you have no idea where the attack has come from, no telegraph, nothing. Not to mention, he spawn way too many of banners and you need an unreasonable amount of dmg to deal with them all before new ones are spawned. The fight needs some improvements for sure.

I'm never a fan of invulnerability mechanics in any game, and POE is no exception. So I've got very mixed feelings about poor Drox.
I should say first that I found that even in T15 Drox is MUCH easier than the other Watchers. The giant fist slam is the only attack I ever felt the need to dodge on a 5600 life archer... compared to similar tiers of Redeemer and Crusader fights, his damage is laughably low. Also, his constant summoning of minions gave me almost 100% flask uptime without any need to conserve or manage my charges. I guess this might have been deliberate, to compensate players for the fact that the banner mechanic makes him pseudo-tanky relative to his compatriots. But in practice, it makes the boss into a boring bullet sponge where I basically held the Q key down for a few minutes with very rare usage of RMB as needed. In an ideal world, I'd like to see the banners give stackable damage reduction instead of total immunity. Say, 25-30% each so that in an area with 4 overlapping banners Drox is immortal but destroying the banners allows progressively closer to true damage against him. Then, the damage of his "rock wave" and "staggered fist slam" attacks could be raised enough for the fight to be interesting... and maybe even fun. I'm guessing this is because the banners? yeah he uses those veeeeery often perhaps more than it should.

I had my Pillar Juggernaut (RT Sunder, so it's kinda sucky) and just lept into the fight the first time and held down the attack button to facetank him just like I used to do on Minotaur. Total yawnfest, but that's what I was expecting on the first time.
Second time around when I got him in the middle, he kept spawning those damn banners and I eventually got to the point of "fuck this" and pulled him on one of the sides to put him and the two banners that could affect him in a line then just held down Sunder some more and eventually finished him off. Didn't care about his damage or abilities, just facetank and hit to get him and the banners. So far he's quite boring, but I also haven't gone against him on higher tiers. |
