Reporting proven Scammer?
Sorry you were scammed.
GGG tells people to report the scam to support. While they won't ban people for trade scams specifically, they still want to know because people reported multiple times will be investigated. Such dishonest people will frequently be breaking other rules that they can and will be banned for. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

" I am sorry to say , i don't think it IS an issue. I double and triple check the item before i hit accept. If it is not the item i wanted, he is not getting my currency. And if i put my currency in for the item and the person cancels the trade ....as soon as the trade window pops up again i check another 4-5 times. It's not an POE issue, it's an user issue. I feel for you, i really do, but make sure to check.... Hell, i wanted to buy 15 prophecys once and the person dumbed some 1 silver prophecys somewhere in the middle.. if you just blindly hover over the items and click accept it's on you. |

What you're suggesting is that a person can't trade ANY item once they put another on the trade site. That's silly. You simply want them to remove trade at that point. The interface requires that you at least go through the motions of checking an item to confirm your trade. At that point, the fault is on you if you accept.

" Don't listen to anyone who says the scammer isn't to blame. They are. " The current system isn't perfect, but it's better than what you suggest: "Note one way to address this issue would be to enhance the trade system so the only item that can be traded for a certain transaction is what was published." Many people like to haggle, which your idea would not support. Often a seller, with an item worth say 5ex, will accept 4 ex and the rest in chaos, which your idea would not support. And the current system is foolproof. It forces you to check the item being traded before clicking accept. If you don't take the time to check it properly, you're being foolish. |

Yes some people are deceptive but it's not an issue imo.
In ALL my trades, I triple check, sometimes even up to 5 times to make sure that is the correct item. It's not a race to see how fast both sides can click accept. I even had a trader laugh when I spent 15 seconds cross checking the item for sale yesterday but they understood why I did it. Just be wary and extra cautious before you hit Accept. Not hard to do. Also, I've hit accept by mistake before in the past and lost about 10ex. Only had myself to blame. |

I always double and triple check.
If you're trading a big ticket item, it's bound to draw in scammers. If people suddenly cancel the initial trade always be wary of the reason why. Never been scammed in this game but it wasn't for lack of ppl trying. |

Proven how?
Just check what you're doing in the trade window and nobody can scam you. |

It's a sad state of affairs when a PoE member gets scammed by a "pro scammer" (e.g. somebody who specializes in it) and ends up being berated (and insulted) by the community when he reports it; this shows the issue goes beyond the thieves to the community that thinks it's the "victims" fault. No wonder GGG hasn't done anything to address this in 7 years. The community is convinced scammers aren't to blame and their behavior shouldn't be punished and it's always the fault of the person who makes the mistake by overlooking something designed to deceive them.
People in PoE who go out of their way to scam and steal from other players are in violation of the ToS section 6 and can be instantly banned by GGG. It's that simple. I find it unbelievable how the responses in this thread not only refuse to acknowledge a known and growing problem, but try to place blame where it does not belong. As I mentioned, in the the real world, we call this fraud, and it's always punishable and often criminal, because it's unethical, immoral, and "harms" people (by deceiving people and stealing their property). The "intent" behind such acts are no different in the game world, and anyone who refuses to recognize this fact or even worse, try to place blame where it doesn't belong (which also trivializes the harmful act, which is culturally very dangerous and ultimately harmful to everyone), is part of the problem. Regardless, GGG has the logs and ability to determine if somebody is actively scamming other players. I've reported the individual and included screenshots, etc. It seems everyone just wants to play the "it's my (your) fault" card and look the other way. This reflects a lack of moral character as it fails to identify wrongdoing and pursue accountability. Once again, people who intentionally scam others are in violation of the ToS. It's also important to note, when people who engage in nefarious acts do so without accountability, they will continue their acts unimpeded, harming other players. I for one want to see such people punished so people think twice about acting to rip others off ... you know ... kind of like how the real world works... All that and a bag of chips! " I see you edited the part of your post that I was going to quote. You want to do something about scammers, which is good. But getting them banned isn't going to stop them. This is a free game, where they just come back with a new account. What you seem too narrow-minded to see is that everyone else is trying to stop the scammers as well, by educating people into how not to be victims. If people stop being careless and check their trades then the scammers will stop, because they will no longer have any targets. |

Here we go again!
" No one in this thread or any other thread on the topic has ever suggested that scammers are in the right or innocent of their actions. We support personal accountability. This is not "victim blaming". It is a fact that it is not possible to be scammed in PoE unless you are careless. The real world can be very different. " You are not the arbiter of morality or on where the correct place to put blame is. Nearly every poster has explained how you have to look at the item and click accept. You refuse to acknowledge that the scammed party has to be careless for the scam to occur. " Your stance is to not foster any personal accountability. You apply this stance to outside of the game and into the real world where a lack of personal accountability has a proven record of disasterous consequences. You would rather people continue going through life in their naivety and then have a third party set things right for them. In short you want people to be perpetual babies. Some of us don't want to live in a nanny state and accept that having true freedom goes hand in hand with a lack of security. " I agree. How do you purpose GGG check if a scam actually occurred? They surely have the tools to check chat logs. How much resources should be set aside to do this task when they have already put fail safes into place that can prevent 100% of trade scams from occurring? Keep PoE2 Difficult.
