micro stutters/fps drops

Didn't make sense to me but I had gotten around 90% improvement on microstutters by setting shadows to high/ultra (both seem to clear up microstuttering). Was previously on low setting for shadows since I expected that to improve fps.

Edit #1, it appears that some areas still stutter even with shadows set to high/ultra but not sure why (places like area outside of the lab/ high gardens / forest areas (such as thicket map). Some areas have no stuttering at all though...

There must be a leak or a major flaw in the code, the gpu goes to 100% after some time, even randomly stuttering in town - lowering settings doesn't help, neither putting shadows on high for me, and it doesn't seem to me that the shader cache is working properly

Had the same issue:
The workaround for me was setting shadow quality to high (had it on low), since then i'm only lower on average fps, but no more 0 FPS drops.
Maybe you guys can play around with that - did not try ultra yet.

windows up to date

sorry for the contrast at the hideout ilumination
Everything I have read on this older thread is what I am experiencing yet I wonder how the streamers manage?

Ryzen 1600 with 16gb DDR4 with NvME/SSD drives and a 1060GTX 6gb.
Bumped
I have to bumb this too. Got very strange stutterings too since a couple of days and frame drops down to 30 or even 20 in high loaded zones like breach plus legion encounter. My hardware should handle that!

i5-8600k @ 3,6 on a z390 chipset
RTX2070 Strix
16 GB DDR4
PoE on Samsung 970evo m2 ssd...

Benchmarked and did some stress test with my fresh reinstalled windows 10. No problems. Other graphic intense games performe like they should.
still stuttering the second i start a delirium encounter. my frames go from maxed to less then 10.

I have a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super. I had microstuttering in another game and found the solution below. It worked for that game and also works for me for Path of Exile. Here is what I did to remove microstutter.

Install Nvidia Control Panel. (If you don't have it, Google it. You'll have to download it from microsoft.com. It's a free download.)

Open Nvidia Control Panel.

The left column has '3d Settings'
Click on it and then click on 'Manage 3D settings'.
Make sure Global Settings is visible.

Scroll down to 'Power Management Mode'. Click on it.

Change the setting from Optimal Power or Adaptive to 'Prefer Maximum Performance'.

Click 'Apply' on the bottom right.

Play the game with no more stuttering.
