The Sirus Fight is Really Badly Designed

this fight is a sad joke. but honestly they didnt have much choice. the power creep is so absurd that the only way of killing players is:
- stupid degens
- visual glitches (aka invisible stupid degens)
- black-on-black design (aka black stupid degens on black background)
- inv phases so you run into stupid degens

ranged can cheeze through PARTS of it (like magma orb should have no problem with split phase. how many clones can magma orb character hit? YES.

melee? good luck :) he is also aliment immune/very resistant so all your chills and slows you can forget about them.

it is doable ofc, but i see no valid reason to even level up a melee character right now if that is the end-game and you are pretty much sure you cannot beat him RELIABLY (aka you can fail it 'just because') (note that this one seems to be 16 stone wariant. the full-stone variant is.. 'a lot very serious much more' brutal

when i told people that those gazilion dps power creep items are bad cause one day you will need them ingame, they said that power creep is a rather good thing cause it keeps the game inteesting and challenging.

this is just ggg's answer to "killed shaper in 0,5 seconds, where the fuck are your bosses, ggg" reddit posts. deal with it ;)

there is yet another problem with this fight.

Armour and Evasion are 100% useless.

so if you are smart and want to do endgame youll IGNORE the staple defensive mechanics as they wont help you when you need them the most.

it is a tradition that most bosses deal SPELL damage and DEGENS. that makes all %armour/%evasion passives WORTHLESS from the endgame point of view. that also means that melee (in theory characters heavy on AR) are shafted even more than they already are.

all that matters is %damage reduction, %less damage, %enemies deal less damage and stuff like that. and ofc SPONGE aka 10k+ buffer that is up to this day the best way of building characters


it is degenerative design and had been for years. when was the last time Armour was useful for something else than Molten Shell?

No wonder you dislike melee so much if you think that's how playing melee looks like rofl. He is just dancing around everything the boss does like 90% of the time hardly ever attacks and gets killed while running around. Looks like he is playing a bow build.
Labyrinth phase, X beam going round, that's all fine.
But the way that he died, being blasted from offscreen is utter bullshit.
Don't forget how many hours you need to play before meeting that Sirus. does it Worth playing 3.9 content ? i Don't think so.

way to miss the point. let me explain it in less words:

why is the boss invulnerable for considerable part of this fight?

then there is the bs design (black on black. some 'black pools' deal damage, some are just cosmetics), the offscreen lazor of death that WILL KILL YOU if you are stationary or even not moving fast enough and my fav - the 3-layer-onion meteor maze with exit.. into the degen-cyclone. that was so cool dying to (3 times!).

oh and you might post your own video, showing us plebs how 'melee can rock this fight' trough wonders of 'melee being tanky'. so far people with 20+ kills under their belt, with 15k ES and bonkers defences/regen STILL die to random BS despite knowing how things SHOULD play. point is - mechanics frequently dont play as they should

I am not saying the fight is well designed. The extended invulnerbility phases and the black degens on black ground ARE shit no questions asked.

Just saying that, if i ever encounter a boss where i am forced to run around this much (outside his invulnerbility phases ofc) without being able to attack, then i'll stop playing melee on the spot and switch to ranged. Thankfully i haven't encountered such a boss yet. I could easily tank all of his attacks including his maze slam (and no i didn't use the jugg, probably should have though see end charge problem).
What killed me were the invulnerble phases where i lost my endurance charges and then i was easy prey. I'll probably use restless ward next time to extend their duration then it shouldn't be a big deal. Most of his attacks and degens seem to be physical based making an end charge and fortify effect stacking melee somewhat ideal for this, if you can keep the charges up ofc..

Though i guess i should be careful with this one, I've only had one try after my quest line ended an i am bugged since then so i couldn't retry. If this guy skales his damage with more watch stones (only have 16 because my inner regions are bugged as well) then he might actually end up being the guy that proves you right. We'll see.

poedb lists some numbers on this boss (as always, these can be 100% wrong as POE does not depend on these numbers, it is all sever-side game after all)

he deals phys damage, but he then converts some of them to fire/cold/light (but it is still phys+something, not pure ele)

degen is phys only tho (or the data is missing, could be)

what is bit scary is that there are two entries for Awakener and one deals ~2500 base and the other 12000. if that is the scaling between normal and uber-awakener :) we are back to the deep delve 100hp and 50mi damage
Standard players will be our saviours by being able to test various builds and crack the fight mechanic.

I dont like what I saw, how the dude died. There wss nothing he could have done. Maybe they tweek some things to make fight better.
Everything is still very new. Enjoy dying a little ya'll 🤣 you'll get bored fast if fight wasn't this hard
