No, the arena is still fine early one, it only gets cluttered as the fight goes on.
And during all that time, you're much better of as a ranged character in pretty much every way possible.

It being a dps check is not relevant to the melee/ranged problem.
As explained times and times, most range characters do have more dps than melee characters, and definitely more effective dps.

Not sure if true man, Zippos build only takes ~1% of total damage due to fortify effect stacking + pathfinder. He takes like no damage in solo delve 1800.
