literally the entire area was area denied.

Was there increased area map mod? I did it fairly easy on t16 with ~75% block chance, and I'm almost 95% sure it had increased area map mod for me so I had to facetank.

i couldnt tell u mate, not sure, its a unique synth map right? so the map mods are fixed i think? it had whatever that map has on it as far as im aware, maybe the mods are still random i dunno.

I didn't remember so I've checked yt cortex videos [blight league] and all had different mods so might be 100% increased area and some other "mess".
Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like.
I did a small Tutorial how to fight against that Synthesis Boss:

xD

yeah, i used to keep a nuke equipped with a loath bane and a legacy abyssus that I could use to just instadelete anything that was bothersome if it came to it. Ive not bothered respeccing it for the last few updates.

its kind of sad that poe became that game where its just stack all the damage and you dont even have to interact with anything. im farming watchers eyes atm, doing uber elder with a cyclone char. its a fairly challenging encounter, its actually one of the better encounters in the game but i know i could just respec some random character to a silly build and instaphase it in an absurd way where I could have less than 1/10 of the ehp of the cyclone im playing on and be 30x safer in the fight due to gggs complete inability to balance dps.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I had a similar experience with this exact boss in a T10(it was early league and triple damage mods). It’s pretty ridiculous. I think GGG even mentioned synthesis bosses as having too many skills and being too complex in one of the exilecon discussions.

+1 to this thread bc:

a. That boss can be BS - had to help a friend out with it who was hemorrhaging portals and even with my meta-of-the-month summoner he was taking forever to die and I simply had nowhere to stand. I got one-shot by who-knows-what ground effect when he had a sliver of life left, no portals left.

b. The above is “difficulty” in PoE. Mechanical fights like Uber Elder that will always one-shot you if you’re standing in the wrong place, sometimes in bullet hell and sometimes in blinding particle effect hell. Deep delves that will always one-shot you so defense is purposeless.

Really, defense is just totally screwed up in this game because of how “difficulty” works. The classic method of stacking layers of defenses is fine for red mapping and most master content, but it gets thrown out the window when you encounter anything thats actually tough.

Other than specific gimmicks like block/dodge, or stacking expensive “take physical damage as x element” mods, building “tanky” is mostly purposeless. I’ve never built truly glass-cannon characters, but next league I’m seriously considering trying it (especially since that strategy fits well with rangers).
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

The biggest defense against bosses usually is to just not run the wrong damage mods, which... isn't really possible for the Synthesis bosses. It wasn't before during the actual league, and I can imagine it isn't now with them being Zana maps.

I've been thinking lately that I wouldn't mind the bosses getting map mods if I felt like I had a chance of seeing the boss again.
Yeah they're pretty nuts. Lots of things going on, some things look scarrier than they should be, if you get distracted dodging something you probably shouldn't and miss a slow/dot pool at your feet things get sketchy.

Some of the only close calls I had this league on one of my char was a t9 no damage zana mission unique park synth boss.

over 9k EHP before block/spell block and almost instagibbed several times (i played bad, stood in the cross lasers of one of the dudes but thats some burst dmg) and gave up after logging out twice.

what am i supposed to do? Im was on a cyclone, every time i got in cyclone distance of the boss he did a massive ground slam, and theres nowhere i can go elsewhere out of it that isnt area denied, and im probably in area denial while fighting him.

Yet if you listen to the GGG faboys around here, melee characters are better for bossing !

.... riiiiiight

I think I fought that golem thindy during Synthesis and somehow managed to get him down in HC, but definitely was not a t16, and the mods mist not have been too bad.

I was offered a Zana mission with it with some nasty mods and this league I just decided to not run it, I guess this was the right choice lol.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
ya its certainly best avoided on a t16 xD

well, it depends what ur build and league is right? I could have just switched to another char, quickly respecced it to something with 15 million dps, gone in there and just nuked it. Im not complaining because I personally couldnt beat it, it was in standard so I can throw 2000+ exalts worth of gear including broken as fk legacy items on and just destroy anything with 0 skill.

But I was fighting it with a build and gear set that is reasonable for a journeyman whos grinding t16s in a softcore trade league to have, I probably got every item I had on from leagues at some point in the past and it was ridiculous. I had enough time to pop a portal, walk out and just say thanks but no thanks, fuck that, but i certainly couldnt have beat it without dying, not unless theres some mechanic to it i wasnt understanding, impossible. that character can just facetank all of the shapers guardians loaded with damage mods, all the elders guardians on t16, it wouldnt even break a sweat, red elder is a walk in the park, ive never failed to kill uber elder with it.

hence the thread, the tuning of that boss is just unreasonable from a reasonable gear and build perspective, or theres a mechanic to it that is not making itself clear enough. i wouldnt humour that map in a t16 in hc for a second on a melee build, or even most reasonable ranged builds tbh.
