by watching how they race, it makes melee so shit to play
61min in and you have just killed kitava, do ggg consider "balacing" between casters and melee?
Casters over powered or is it just that GGG telling you do not play melee. Are they considering to buff melee or nerf casters in order to make a more diverse game play in future race game play? I think it all about the time you lose to craft by vendor your weapon or pray rng to yolo-alch a rare good one but still need to get a better one dozen levels later or risk ez RIP. And the fact you do not want to get closer to those disgusting corrupted creatures. xD

Keep in mind that the people who were racing at Exilecon are the best of the best - undoubtedly any of them could perform almost as well with Sunder as they do with OOS.

Buff melee, and leave it alone, easy fix.
Everytime melee and totems were "good", they were nerfed because "too strong". Since both melee and totems are super slow to play [compared to some caster skills and setups], they would be best left alone, after a buff, and then examined for a couple seasons. GGG would be fascinated to find, that people would not play ONLY the "op melee", but that people would actually make a diverse selection of characters and builds. Instead of people who play exclusively casters and miners/trappers.... |

The problem is melee is more powerful end game. The race is to kitava, but easily killing uber elder is for melee the easiest now. They even nerfed arc trap that they cant kill them easy. The season before last the best end game skill was cyclone.

Speed running is a game of it's own. They build for one very specific purpose. Most available spells didn't get used either. Like speed running in any other game, it has little to do with normal game play.
Melee really is neglected in this game though. But that's more because the game has become a game of kill everything in sight, as fast as possible. By it's nature, melee can't do that. For melee to play the same way, it wouldn't be melee any more. Cyclone in the last league is an example of that. It barely qualified as melee. A real melee weapon doesn't clear half the screen. It's one of the funnest skills in the game, even after the nerf. But it's not really melee. It's an inherent part of the current game play, not the skill itself. |

OP you can't compare racing to anything else in the game, its entirely about abusing one skill pretty much and everything else looks bad in comparison.
In the mini race leagues they ran most recently (like years ago) you could choose which character to compete as and didn't get all the gems which meant you could race as a sunder duelist for example but in the story races you'll find 99% of strats are the same. Also doing UE as melee is harder than other play styles, this is because melee uptime is garbage and you actually have to tank attacks unlike playing as ranged. You'd have to get to a fairly ridiculous multiplier before i'd play melee over ranged on UE, like 5mil melee vs 1 mil ranged i'd still pick ranged most likely. |
