Many other promo events give away free shit on a first come, first serve basis for TANGIBLE items. Why couldn't GGG just offer a handout for everyone who joined?
Simple. GGG will take any opportunity to propagate their gambling-addiction agenda. This is no different from anything else in the game. The average player has spent several hundreds of fusings only to fail at getting a 6-link. You get upset, take a break, or maybe map for a while to cope.. but in the end, you always come back. No matter the backlash, their item "giveaway" on stream follows the same fundamental concept of gambling in-game. If you've lost faith in the stream, that's fine; someone else will replace that spot and get hooked. Others will be awestruck by the luck and success of others such as the dude who just posted above me. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't spend time on that stream. I'm cool. " oh for sure, they want new blood from twitch but they dont really understand twitch audience anyway.. most of the new people trying out the next league will totally quit the second day when they encounter server issues or bugs they don't know what they are getting into. like I said before this will hurt them in the long way, whenever they open drops people should remember how much of a bait this was just to grow their bank account than anything else, they have the tools to make this by themselves they decided to think with their pockets.. from me they are not getting any more second to watch, I'm not watching jack shit today neither their next big event like this since I don't give 2 rats ass about poe e-sports. I started watching since 1 hour before it actually began and all the way through 7 hours. I didn't get a thing, oh well... too bad. Don't really care either. The announcement was awesome though.
