League's unique items economy, as always, broken as f*

Nah golds and silvers are too rare, if you take people with 36 and plenty of them haven't dealt with a particular piece of league content there is a distinct rarity issue.

Its no different to Aul being totally absent from many peoples delves, they can be expensive sure but things like golden oils need a better drop system. Paying for other peoples luck always feels distinctly shitty, moreso when its a "fragment" type system where you are supposed to upgrade.

Given how rare blighted maps drops are, given how easy and irrelevant blights in normal maps are: most of the people play standard atm. It's just called Blight. Not speaking of the people that skipped blight or got sick of it. So: Standard is a thing ;) And with the recent QoL improvements it is quite fun. Not that there is much to do, but it never was easier to watch some sports while rushing through the trash.

Sounds interesting.

But, if I go to play Standard League, that means I'll have to clear out all my Stash pages from previous Leagues... I went and looked at that once. It was intimidating. :)

Standard is my Retirement Home for past character. They are there, relaxing, enjoying the fruits/failures of their labors. It'd be a shame to wake them up.

I'm not saying you're bashing things, only that accessibility is "a thing" that players want. It's not that everyone must get a trophy, but everyone needs to see a path to a trophy and experience progressing towards it, even if they don't get to touch it.

My path likely involves giving someone else a reward, as Draegnarr astutely points out, for their RNG experience. (Nicely stated, Draegnarr.)

As you're aware, we're in a 90 day game cycle. Every 90 days, we get a "new thing to do." That's wonderful!

But, if that "New Thing" keeps getting further away from players and requires even more grinding in order to get the chance at a good "End Game" RNG roll, then... Well, that's why the "Middle Class" is shrinking all over the place. :)

Standard might very well be the "Answer." But, it's probably not as exciting and interesting as participating in a League, is it?

I don't want "Easy Mode." I just want a tantalizing carrot that, if I play my cards right, I can probably reach before the timer runs out without having only to work in-game to pay someone else for their gameplay success.

Why are you strawmaning? I mean, that's not what I said - at all.

1) This game NEEDS something to push for at high levels. Unless, it would die fast. Golden orbs are expensive and rare, but they yield a lot of power if used right. If they wouldn't be rare, they wouldn't be special - and dropping those/using those wouldn't feel special/earned.

2) There are TONS of nice anointments available for cheap. So there's a lot of "cool stuff" to enjoy.

3) EVERYONE can farm an exalt in a couple of days if they set their mind to it. Golden orbs cost around one exalt.

4) It's called "progression". Certain things will be available for you at low levels, certain things will become available later on. If everything was available for everyone the moment you hit maps (which it in practice is, due to trade), you would stop progressing too early.

5) Some players will always want the "cool stuff" they haven't reached yet, no matter if they've played one day or hundred days.

6) If you didn't get it: Games like this survive because there's always things you WANT. If access to everything was easy/fast, there would be no game - in the long run.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
I am fine with rare, but not with non existant.

I play a fair ammount of maps everyday, all t16 maps and have dropped 0 golden oils.
Yeah sure i can buy the ones i need no problem same for the non existant blight maps i can also buy them if i wanted.

Thing is i could also do this in standard sure it would cost a hell of a lot more but the point is there would be no diffrence for me if am playing standard or the current league and that is not a good thing imo.

That's a key observation.

If your frequency of experiencing the League's content to its fullest extent is comparable to what you'd experience of it in Standard... Then, what benefit are you getting from playing in League? "Racing to the end if you can?" And, if your experience of that in 90 days is no greater than that would be in Standard... it doesn't exist for you.

For some, it does. What's the difference? RNG?

Sure, RNG is a thing in PoE. It's the most pervasive, active, game mechanic in the game. PoE is the only successful game that has managed to barely defeat the dreaded "RNG Monster" by incorporating RNG... everywhere. RNG can be "defeated" by a game mechanic and resource that PoE does not have to pay for in order to develop and to supply - Hours Played.

There ya go! There's your solution! You need to hunt for "Hours Played" and get more of them.

Can I interest you in a full day of Baal runs? Your Rune might drop!
I've found 4 golden oil and about 10 silver in a considerable amount of time played. I think it's pretty fair for trade leagues, but a little tough if you're SSF and don't play a lot if oils don't go core because if you don't farm the golden oils now you're SOL forever.

I think the oils will go core in some form or fashion so it's no big deal.

Just curious, but what did you do to get those and about how much of it did you have to do?

If it goes core, maybe it will be "OK." We don't know what "4.0" is going to bring. Most likely it's an extended "End Game" in my opinion, with a new class maybe? Or, it could be another "side game" like Delve, which might be interesting as well. (Go up into the clouds instead of down into the ground?)

I'm somewhat convinced there's some "seed" somewhere that gets generated and something, somewhere, depends on it to determine one's League experience... It seems to be "hit or miss" for me. And, there's two things going, there:

Either I can Delve to the my Hearts content or run Maps to my hearts content. If I struggle with the one I'm doing? Both? Then my experience is going to suck and I won't get the critical gear/items/affixes I need for the build I selected and will have to switch to some standard "Can do all content OK'ish" build.

Your frustration will be continually ignored if this is the statement you leave with.

So what? They don't reward you properly. Clearly you are okay with the "abuse" and will come back next league anyway.

People consistently fail to understand that whinging here does nothing for you... especially if you exit with "See you next league!"

They have you hooked. Your words are meaningless to them.
Recall that until 3.8.1d patch, a couple people in global 820 were offering blighted map mirror services

Mirror. Services. For a map

With drop rates this low, it's going to be a while before golden oils become available in sub-1ex quantity.

A clan mate ran a couple pubby shares of blighted white maps. While you could say the subpar yield is because they weren't red maps, even for a white map the loot was subpar.

Blighted map drop rate needs to go up AND blight rewards should be scaled properly to number of lanes/tier.

I get they don't want random casuals to have Tribal Fury or Soul of Steel. But at the current pace, it's apparent nobody wants to use oils because they are the new mirrors.

When blight goes core (and it probably will), this will become absurd. As it is, even with Sister Mary Cordyceps showing up in every zone, you can't beg, borrow, or steal a blighted map.

What passive are you trying to allocate?

Just asking because I bet there is a pretty good one with slightly less impact for a few chaos, or you already have the oils for.

Notables are very rarely game changing.

The only ones I can see being a big deal are the anoint only ones like tribal fury or maybe vengeant cascade.

However, similar to build-making items like Xoph's blood or something, those are also a few exalt. Seems balanced.

I find the lesser used notables are actually awesome. Freedom of movement anyone can be game changing defensively, graceful assault is free onslaught for casters, saving either some serious coin freeing up a slot, and both are very cheap.
