I'm stuck at lvl 82
" I'm thinking of a 6L Infernal Mantle Widowsilk Robe, they generally go for around 40C, have lots of ES and increase fire damage What i don't like about it is that it converts 15% of the fire damage into chaos damage. Because of that i would have to remove Avatar of Fire. The increased crit chance is also useless for me, because i'm not running a crit build and i have elemental overload Also, quick question, i see some vaal regalias with white sockets that aren't corrupted, how do they get those? |

As was mentioned earlier, the wand nodes only affect attacks that are made with the wands themselves, so I'd recommend dropping them.
I had a look at your skill tree and found one or two redundant points, this is what I would recommend. You get a bit more damage, resists, aoe, crit, cast speed and ignite chance. Also, since you have both avatar of fire and pyre, I'd suggest you play around a little with some cold spells aswell. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

It's not good to start with ES character. I'd call it a noob trap :)
I have started POE similar way with a difference I've followed a build guide about "Super tanky/all content/15k ES super build" and if ended with multiple deaths when hitting maps, low damage and a bad opinion about this game. I suggest to try some HP build when you're new to POE. There are some builds made by Wrecker_of_Days mostly not requiring any specific gear, just describing basic functionality and synergy of some skills. And if some build announces itself tanky because is has 6k HP don't belive it. When you don't know boss mechanics 6k HP means nothing. You need to stack multiple layers of defence. Block, dodge, fortify, armor, increased max res and sustain. High HP number doesn't help a lot if you don't regen or leech. My builds:
3.8 75/75 block 7.5k HP Zombie/Skeleton build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2650898 |

A few more pointers for you
- Mind over matter only protects your life, not your energy shield. It can be worth using on a genuine hybrid build, where you have Mostly life, some energy shield and some mana, but if you are trying to go 'pure' energy shield, it doesn't really help. - Pyre doesn't really do much for you. Burning is NOT the same as fire damage. You need to focus on ignites and burning damage for it to do any reasonable damage and you aren't. - Avatar of fire isn't really helping. You are doing pure fire damage anyway. It will convert any small amounts of flat cold/lightning you might get, but thats not really worth and as you have worked out, will stop any benefit of chaos conversion. - Onslaught should only be used in your main links while levelling. You can keep it up while mapping with a silver flask. |

Hey there, welcome to PoE and gratz for reaching lvl82 first try - thats really good :)
Now PoE is a pretty complex game and a lot of stuff isnt exactly intuitive, which is obviously causing trouble for beginners. Allow me to point some out, that are hindering your build. 1. Upfront dmg vs. dmg over time All fire based spells can ignite enemies and cause burning dmg - a dot. But if your supportgems arent specifically chosen to increase the dot dmg, it wont do much. Right now your upfront dmg is sitting at ~37k and the dot portion of your dmg is sitting at ~5k. Keep in mind: Burning dmg lasts for 4sec and cannot be stacked. I would recommend to remove Breath of Flames from your tree, since its pretty much only scaling the ignite chance as well as burning dmg, but it doesnt do a whole lot for your upfront fire dmg, which is your mainsource of dmg. Same goes for Divine Judgement or the node before - pick the lower one, not the upper one. Dots cannot penetrate res, but upfront dmg can. So the other node will be better for you. 2. Mind over Matter MoM is a great defensive tool, but because of the wording it´ll only work, when your char is actually loosing life - it doesnt work for ES. That means MoM will only take effect once your ES is depleted and then split the dmg 70:30 between life and mana. Your life currently is sitting at 1.4k and your mana is sitting at 1.5k - so its roughly the same. That would be ok, if MoM would split the dmg 50:50, but thats not the case. 3. Being hybrid (life & ES) This is probably the most difficult approach, because you will have to invest into life as well as ES. It wont be easy to get good gear, because life and ES stats are both prefixes. So they are canceling each other out in a way. You´ll not only need %ES and %life nodes on the tree, but also good amounts of flat life and flat ES on your gear, so the %nodes for life or ES have something to work with and can actually scale the flat numbers. 4. ES and chaos dmg All sources of chaos dmg will bypass your ES and directly hit your lifepool. Given your low lifepool, this can easily 1shot you. Your chaos res is sitting at -48%, which is a chaos dmg taken multiplier and will cause trouble. So you´ll either have to stack way more chaos res or get immunity via Chaos Inoculation (CI) keystone or buy a Shavronnes Wrapping chest, which will prevent chaos dmg to bypass your ES. 5. Not running (Vaal) Discipline aura as an ES build Assuming you want ES to be your main defense, you should run a Discipline aura. A lvl20 Discipline would be worth some 900-1000 ES with your current tree while reserving some 600 mana. A Vaal Discipline would allow you to trigger ES recharge when needed, so you can tank through some encounters. Bottom line: You need to make up your mind and decide whether you want to focus on upfront or DoT dmg - same goes for ES vs life. In PoEs endgame you kind of have to min/max and thus focus on few things, rather than trying to be a jack of all traits but master of none ;) Cheers |
