do ppl forget we run hatred dicsipline and aspect? you want to give up on

3 auras that 1 of them is a huge energy shield to run blasphmy? dont think its worth it

and ball lightning travel really really far like really far so i dont think there will be any issue with it

Hatred? You don't want to run Hatred. It was only good in Delirium and Harvest before the cluster jewels that added curse effect got nerfed. In Heist it was already numerically superior to spend the skill points on getting more Int instead of lowering mana reservation to afford Hatred.
All the ideas about replacing CWDT Ball Lightning with various other methods of applying curses have been discussed a number of times in this thread.

Vortex as a curse vessel is absolutely terrible. Wave of Conviction is slow and geometrically limited. Blasphemy you just cannot afford, it won't trigger Malediction because it's an aura, and you lose an extra curse from Awakened Hextouch.

And yes, you do get hit all the time in any serious endgame content. There are great many ranged enemies. It takes 1 ranged hit from a pack ahead of you to trigger the ball that will fly forward and curse the enemies before you actually reach them with your damage.

Another important benefit of BL is that it hits all targets along its path 5 times per second. That's a LOT of hits in a packed zone. And a LOT of healing from the Watcher's Eye.

CWDT BL works really, REALLY well in the actual mapping. Even though it may not be obvious on paper.

However, for the Occultist with Profane Bloom it may make sense to have 1 curse applied via Blasphemy to help trigger the explosions on the trash packs that didn't hit you yet. Not sure how much of a difference that's going to make and at what stage of the gearing/mapping. It needs testing, and with the new 40% Bloom too.

Anointed Cloth & Chain and spent the points on a longer tree.

Isn't Holy Dominion a better anoint for us? We basically get nothing out of the extra evade chance and we have no armor at all.

Might as well get a tiny amount increased damage.

Yes, of course. Holy Dominion is a part of the Classic version, so it was not an option for anointment until the switch to the cluster version, and I kinda forgot about it. Once you are using the cluster tree, it should be the best resist anointment for The Stampede. Thanks for reminding me!

Are you creating a new Thread for Occulist Ice Queen, or will you just update this one?

Looking for a build without Clusters to start with for occulist

so, i'm guessing that vile ward will still be kinda mandatory for levelling ocultist on a fresh league, right? damage shouldn't be a problem that early

Not really. The regen on it isn't important for a leech build, and stuns are not a big deal for the storyline leveling on an ES character.

Ideally you should take Malediction first, if you can afford the links to apply 2 curses. That can be problematic on the league start. 5L Icetomb is just not going to happen on day 1 :)

But I see a potential solution: Blasphemy Frostbite + CWDT Enfeeble. That requires just two 2L's! There is enough mana for 1 Blasphemy (plus Discipline and F&S) since you don't have Aspect yet. Frostbite aura should be a massive damage bonus in itself. And anything that hits you gets Enfeebled + Maledictioned.

Yes I thought about that too. Probably the best way is to take 1 curse on blasphemy and others on BL CWDT. Or maybe even 2 curses on blasphemy. IDK just try temporal chains on blasphemy and then on BL CWDT. You will clearly notice the difference in monsters action speed. Even on bosses, it is a lot easier to evade when it reduces up to ~20% (with curse effectiveness). Anyway will have to test everything in the league again. But actually other auras or aspects than discipline doesn't seem quite worth in comparison anyway.

Yes. There will be enough to discuss and try that applies specifically to the Occultist, and the trees/links may not get finalized for quite a while. No reason to spam the perfectly working Ascendant build with that stuff and confuse people.

Aspect of the Spider is better than TC for this build. TC is for the builds that don't want to get hit at all. This build wants to get hit, and often. Just not too hard.
