Because it doesn't matter what you do or how much police Chats misinformation will NEVER be stopped and in my personal experience chats is one of the worst places to get good information. Trade Chat where people constant post trying to sell 1alc uniques for 1ex and new players that dont know any better just have that much more chance to learn the hard way. Thus perpetuating the very issues you speak off.. ruining new player experience.

Not to mention chat isnt going to get you better at the game either... PLAYING the game gets you better and helps you learn more than any amount of chat can. Maybe its just my personal bias because to me as an experienced player chat is little more than a distraction from the tasks at hand. And if its bothersome to experienced players it certainly cant be that helpful to players learning the ropes.

Chat has its place.. and that place is best utilized once you have a better understanding of the game not when your learning it. Thats my main reasoning for my suggestion for a new player to ignore chat.. not because i dont want it policed or made better hell im all for cleaning it up and making it better but until that actually happens ill continue to suggest new comers stick to Guilds, Friends, and web pages like poedb.com and the like. My whole point is to help players first and foremost get off on the right foot. And im sorry but chat just is not conducive to that currently nor has it ever been in almost 7 years ive been playing.

I think it's not really Elitism and more lack of patience for new players. Like you said, there's guides for everything which fosters a mentality of "you should know this, there is no excuse to be stupid you have guides and youtube videos. Why are you wasting my time by not doing the optimal path? Just. Google. It."

Unless there's some way to make guides inaccessible, there will not be any experimentation anymore, at least after the first day or so. Nobody cares about the journey, they want the destination as quickly as possible. The problem is even more prevalent with competitive as many don't want to take a risk by trying something new and instead wait for someone else to do it. What's even funnier is people cry for it yet none are willing to give it a chance.

It all comes down to social gaming which pretty non-existant. You don't play with people, they're only there to weigh you down and the 1v1 me bro etc.

I do think that at times people ingame ask the dumbest questions solved by a simple google search. This is where most of the hostility comes from. When many people ask the same questions every other day it gets annoying.
