I think GGG is going in the wrong direction the pacing of the game, aoe => an open discussion
" I think he meant he's socket starved, I don't think it's about the bar in this case, probably misstyped. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" ya thats probably the case, because its a rather common thing with so many different "low" mana reservation skills flesh and stone+banner+blood and sand+1 aura talking about the skill bar just looked so out of place and he was talking about sockets and not the skill bar before |
|
" It should have read like this "I'm already forced to not use CWDT setups, golems and warcries on my builds because I can not fit them on a skill bar or into available socket gems." It should not have been so hard to guess in what context it was mean as I was talking about these two issues, active skill slot starvation and also gem socket starvation, earlier. Also, later part of the sentence refers to golems and warcries that you need to activate, 100% for warcries, golems can be also cast via CWDT but it is suboptimal solution. |

" Grim Dawn went similar way, every so often they change items or adding items to phase out some builds and give new opportunity for "creating something new" - replay the game with another character. It's the hook for sure. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

I agree with all the criticisms of the OP and others as they are spot on. The question I think is how long can it go before it implodes. The vast majority of games do when the balance goes all to hell. Certainly PoE is on that road. I see possibilities but at the risk of losing current "high end" players.

" Yes, definitely an issue. The big question here is though what's better long-term for the game. I would say loosing a chunk of the player-base would be a setback short-term, but long-term it could prove to get the game into a solid state to call it a 'masterpiece' rather then 'good'. It's for a good reason that D2 is still a viable game to play nowadays despite the ages mechanics, mods like Path of Diablo that bring a large of QoL updates and new content are making the already good game a great game. As for total re-works like Median XL it also provides a completely fresh experience. PoE seemingly tried to go the Median-route, providing fresh experiences rather then sustaining a quality-game at the moment. That usually doesn't last long though. GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings. Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease. Everything fixed but still broken. Last edited by Kulze#3236 on Aug 16, 2019, 9:36:24 AM

" Just get those rose-tinted glass off. Diablo 2 does not have viable gameplay by any current standards. What is your complain? OP listed several grievances and feelings completely disconnected from how the game plays for last several years. Any post reminiscing about making choice between single-target skills and AOE has missed the train that left the station around late 2013. This game is about killing thousands upon thousands of NPCs over and over again. Good luck doing that one by one. OP was complaining that skills now have it all and those that do not have it will be changed in some way to fit in. Would you rather have select few skill that are much better than the rest? Well, you already have it, just follow meta builds. There is too much loot and crafting is too powerful. Sure, we have too much loot, so much GGG has to implement loot filter option so we can filter out all the shit loot that drops. Good loot worth your time to pick it up is rare and far too rare. You will get your character geared up much faster by just picking up currency and buying whatever gear you need from others. There is a good reason for most streamers using ultra strict filters where they pick only handful of item bases and valuable currency. Argument that crafting is too powerful is complete joke. Crafting was for a long time a feature used only by those ultra rich while rest of PoE population did very little crafting and rather spent their currency buying items from others. GGG revamped crafting few leagues ago to a point where it can finally be used by lots of people and provided viable alternative to trading for obtaining items. You can create powerful items but those crafts are not cheap nor they are readily available to everyone from start--most powerful crafting is done via Betrayal veiled mods, which must be obtained in every new league. It takes significant effort, time or currency to get some of the most powerful crafting options. So again, what is your complaint about direction PoE is taking? Path of Exile is here for 7 years and there are no competitors for it currently in ARPG genre and there wont be any for foreseeable future. |

Clear speed meta term is really just a poor excuse for GGG to not balance the game. They could address power creep long time ago. Now we have a boring walking simulator where monsters deal no damage to you, you are a walking god and people think the game is hard because of a few bosses that are in the game.
Not to mention, the game has turned to a completely boring grind. I am currently at lvl 94 and I still am at depth 170ish. Fuck how much do you need me to grind boring maps to get to the fun level of delve? Thanks for the hard content ggg that isn’t even accessible to people that work full time jobs |

Complaining about a clear speed meta when the genre of ARPGs has had an emphasis on clear speed since it began is just weird to me. It would be like getting angry that RPGs tune the hardest difficulty for power gamers. It doesn't make sense to me. Every ARPG turns into a speed simulator at the very high end because the best way to increase loot drops is going fast.

" seriously ? you are blaming the reader when the mistake was on your end? you are writing about cwdt for the first time and in a new paragraph without mentioning sockets. in a discussion it is better to clarify things instead of assuming what the person could have meant especially when it might not be the first language for some ppl tkaing part in the discussion its not about how hard it it is to gues what you mean, its about making a clear argument the fact that you are using warcry, which cant be linked to cwdt and thus need a slot on the skill bar, later on doesnt make it any better. not beeing able to use warcrys is more of a skil bar and not a socket problem. this means only half of your sentence makes sense while the other part is unrelated. poe doesnt provide information very well ingame, often you have to use the wiki to clear things up and that side isnt from ggg. so its absolutely possible that ppl misunderstand how things work in poe this makes clarification even more important. |
