Why soul-binding items when equppied is a good thing for trade and fun.

I'm fairly sure a large number of people would keep 1 for alts.

You seem to forget people farm for the stuff far more frequently than people will need to buy it.

Increase your scope past 1 item. You aren't just increasing the droprate for 1 thing, but items specific to specific builds aswell most people won't use for themselves

You're missing the point. All I'm saying is that drop rates should be balanced around a bind on equip system. That's it.

If you are interested, Brevik talked about this and even offered a bind on equip solution for PoE, but a) he was mildly drunk on stream, and b) it was in the context of IF an AH gets added

Can't find the video but it was 1.8 years ago? I think you'll find it fascinating. If I stumble upon it I'll PM you

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing it.

And while I've always been adamantly against an AH in the past, I think bind on equip would enable easier trading (such as an AH) to become a thing without many of the downsides GGG lists in their trade manifesto.

But you can't balance it when farming for loot is a core mechanic of the game

This is not like D3... this is bind on EQUIP, not drop. You can trade literally everything you find like normal, until it's used. The OP is right.

Lol, the OP is you and your own TLDR talks about increased droprates:

TLDR: without soulbinding, drop rates are WAY lower than they otherwise would be... and finding loot = more fun than trading for loot, therefore soulbound items is a good thing.

You're talking about changing the play experience (increased drops) to counter the fact that soulbinding will take items out of circulation. The game raining uniques is very different than players having the option to trade for them.

I am now thankful for soulbinding in D3. It was the main reason I decided to leave D3, and that's when I found POE. No regrets.

That's the best I can do to support item binding in an ARPG.

The OP is definitely full of shit something. No way should any item be "soul" or character bound in any way. I hate that aspect of D3:RoS, one of us gets a great drop but not for their build but would be perfect for another party member. Of crap, it's account bound so I can't give it to my friend (that's a super crap game restriction). The OP is wrong.

The irony. I referenced a specific item binding technique in D3 as a specific point of dislike for binding (that one being bind on drop), then I referenced general item binding in ARPGs.

Item binding of any sort with the exception of quest items or similar has no place in an ARPG in my opinion.
Thanks for all the fish!

Because you are more likely to find an item for someone elses build than your own.

Increased droprates = more items on the market. Once someone has the items they need, all the extra loot will be going straight to the market.

And that can't be balanced, why?
Because farming for loot isn't a side activity you do when you've got nothing better to do, it makes up a majority of the gameplay. thus any increase to droprate will have an impact in how much is available for sale.
God no. Item binding is NOT good. It wasn't good for d3, it won't be good for this game.
