Just because one person buys the same 'car' every time doesnt mean others will. In fact - most ppl will go where the best value is or the best experience (my case and point). This game is in direct competition with other games with similar styles. They will hope to corner as much of that market as they can in order to hopefully entice those ppl to do mirco-transactions in game and make this game profitable.
If you had the chance to gain a larger audience to your game - why wouldnt you take it? This thread is more about the potential to keep or entice ppl to this game over others. Why attract 1 customer when you can attract 2? |

" Rhys, thanks for the feedback. As I said earlier, the dev interaction and responses go a long way for those of us out here waiting on the game. I definately have a different opinion as far as what should be versus what is and I think that's an okay thing to discuss. Just like you guys on the dev side have to take a jaded outlook and put things in place to deal with the bottom 1% of players, over the years we players have also taken the same outlook for development processes. Most of us who have played games for over a decade have had at least one title we really look forward to crash and burn or, even worse, never even get off the runway. I'm ultimately an ends results kind of guy. If there are enough people around for you guys to make a living while keeping the servers running I would be very happy. This year just brings some timing issues that make that a more difficult task. To that end I, as someone who wants to not only experience POE but also have a good community to interact with, look at these things with some caution. I know you guys aren't the same people who have burned their communities before. I know it's not fair to read too much into situations. But you know - once bitten, twice shy. I've had UO, DAOC, WOW and many other games pretty much ruined by decisions made that were not in tune with what the playerbase wanted. And while many would hang around and deal with it there is a threshhold where the shockwave of the population change in the community has more impact that the initial changes to begin with and the atmosphere goes down the tubes. So all I'm saying is I understand you have your reasons...just keep in mind you have a lot of people who have spent literally hours (maybe days) worth of time here and please be sure not to leave them waiting too much longer. And those new people who showed up...you gotta set the hook. Don't wait too long or they might go somewhere else. And that person could have been a guildie or buddy for someone else in the future and made the social side a better experience. I don't want those types of people to be lost - be it 10 or 10,000 of them. |
