Lets be real, garbage is being sold in front of our eyes 24/7. I'm not going to make a long list of analogies but exactly the very same reasons why games are shit, are the same reasons why it's difficult to find any proper healthy food nowadays. I've been buying only fresh meat & vegetables for a looooong time already - nothing packaged. You can't even buy pumpkin in a jar without it being 20% sugar.
You yourself are probably guilty of that as well. If this would be a food forum, they'd blame people like you; just like you are blaming "new gamers".
On the positive side I've become a mad good cook within the last 10 years!
When i buy food i don't care if the food is healthy or whatever (that's personal preferences see), if it fills my hungry, it's good and don't kill me immediately i simple don't care, because it fulfilled its role (give me joy/satiated my hungry). A car with 3 wheels would not fulfill the role expected (take me from A to B). Your example would fit better if i had said: "it's hard to find a good game/ good gaming company nowadays". Now outside from outright scams(that are a thing in real life) every product you buy fulfills it's role, otherwise you never would buy it again (the same is not true with games nowadays).
Now remember when eating tidepods became "meta"? A lot of people did it even tough it didn't fulfilled anything and was dangerous, they just did it because it was "meta" to do so (as is gaming right now in the world lol)
If they listened to just 10% of the whining going on in these forums the game would turn out terrible. A lot of times the ones screaming the loudest are very wrong about what would be healthy for the game.

Totally agree with you, but that's where the person that is paid to interact with the community must act.
1- Posts that only say "I hate this, it's bad" ---- simple ignore.
2- Posts that argument why x is bad without providing any suggestion to fix---- also ignore
3- Posts that argument why x is bad while giving suggestions to what can improve x and how it change the game. ------ Should be answered with either: it's impossible(and why), we don't want to because of y, or we will look at it (that's the beauty of temporary leagues, you can risk to add something and if it backfires you can void it or modify it and try again).
The trade manifesto(the most known) for example needs to be updated because when it was made, things like fossils, scarabs, sextants, lots of types of currencies didn't exist, and those need to be bought constantly and are often not available in bulks. These should be taken in consideration in their trade concept.

He might be playing other games to copy the ideas from. Skill tree, skill gems, linked sockets aren't a new thing. Have you ever played any of the final fantasy series?

I can only guess that if 1000 players quit for similar reasons: trade, overpowered stuff, underpowered stuff, you name it. Either the game just isn't right for those players or the devs don't care about what those players think.
