No physics engine?
I apologize if this has been brought up before, but I ran a search and came up with nothing.
I've been watching gameplay videos from PoE, and have noticed that there appears to be no physics engine in the game. All the enemies appear to have the same stock death animation. Is this intentional, or only placeholder until a physics engine is implemented into the game? I ask because physics engines obviously add a lot to the expression of a character in an aRPG. Every skill and its impact should have its own effect on enemies. There's nothing quite like seeing an explosive attack scattering corpses in all directions - the weight and power it adds to the character is sublime. Obviously when you're slaughtering thousands of identical monster archetypes, it gets quite boring looking at the same death animation play itself out over the years, regardless of what skill is being used. Is it just a matter of time until a physics engine and ragdoll-style deaths are implemented into PoE, or is that something the devs aren't entertaining? | |
Could have sworn I saw a corpse fall of an edge in one video.

tl;dr but there was already a guy complaining about that and there probably won't be physics cuz it's not in the engine

No physics engine in the game. No plans to add one anytime in the near future (huge amount of work).

Not worth the time and effort it would take for a team consisting of only 14 people.

They can't integrate a pre-existing physics engine like Havoc or PhysX?

As someone who loves minecraft and Dwarf fortress I don't think that a physics engine would add anything. I'd much rather they have better gameplay. I think prettiness is the one thing D3 will have.

I'd rather see them add more content first than an engine overhaul.

Physics? In MY realm? BLASPHEMY I SAY!
Attempting to partake in such witchery would anger the gods. Our earth is flat and thats the way we like it. |
