I love how the white knights defend this league by calling the people not liking the league ''stupid/not smart enough to use their critical thinking skills''. They must have been fed a lot of bs in their garbage universities/colleges.
Critical thinking is important, but it has to be used the right way. Using critical thinking on the current situation combined with Chris' presentation at GDC shows that GGG knew that there would be issues in the league but they were focused on maximizing $ on supporter packs/MTX early. The league is buggy, there is no doubt about it and its mechanics are beyond awful, there is no denial. The decay system is frustrating and the league is basically '' a lot of effort for a low reward''. For anyone arguing that ''people just don't like the fact it's complicated'', that is true to some degree but false on my other points. Yes , some people rant that they league requires you to have spreadsheets in order to do well. On one hand, I understand this complaint since this is supposed to be a hack and slash game, not a strategy game. When the planning takes more time than the actual gameplay, it becomes an issue. The other big issue the league has is the decay system/forcing players on the cookie-cutter fast clear meta focused on huge amount of speed and fast clear. The complaints are more than reasonable considering the pisspoor attempt of a league GGG threw out. |

" I agree, but the right feedback is necessary. Anyone can throw ''league is shit'', but if you know why it is ''shit'' and you can explain that, it is more important. It does not really matters in GGG's case because they knew ahead that league would have massive flaws but still went ahead with it. In most games though feedback can be provided to improve the game, not sure this will do anything regarding synthesis. |

I've have mixed reviews of some of what Bearcares has spouted on this forum, and I will say bluntly that you will not be missed. You talk of negativity and I explicitly recall you being hypercritical towards casual players.

As the game gets older people’s expectations of quality becomes greater and when those expectations aren’t met people don’t have the most positive of reactions to it. Just within the last hour I have crashed 4 times and am starting to question why I’m even trying to play this game anymore.
Synthesis especially is a unstable league that just feels like a rushed attempt at getting something out to try and sell stash tabs all the while saying “we don’t need to worry about quality assurance because people like OP will support us regardless.” |

You are correct to imply that managing expectations is an important part of game development (it's an important part of many aspects of life, really), though it seems unlikely that mismanaged expectations are a major source of discontent here. And for the record, I think the devs and asset creators at GGG still have very high standards of quality. There has been stunning work coming out of that studio, including recently. That makes it even more heartbreaking to see how thoroughly mismanagement and half-baked releases squander the thousands of hours of effort of others. I can only imagine how frustrated and demoralized GGG's content creators are by the near-unanimous condemnation of this league, when really the fundamental ideas behind it were never flawed at all--releasing it in an unfinished state was the flaw all along. That is a management mistake. Wash your hands, Exile!
